The company continues to expand its roaming partnerships, already having roaming agreements with 649 operators in 199 countries. The company is growing fast both in the corporate and individual services with the brand Avea. It s a modern brand appealing to young high net woth spenders. It is constantly investing in technology, infrastructure, management and around 2,700 employees so as to stay ahead of its competition and deliver the best in quality service to its customers. Challenges Faced in partner settlements When Avea embarked on their NGN venture they were managing their business using a legacy interconnect product for their partner settlement requirement. The system was capable of handling basic voice and sms scenarios with basic comparisons, calculations and simple reconciliations being done manually. Many of the business processes were not automated and calculated manually outside the core system. The system demanded lot of experienced operation engineers as daily operations were complex and time consuming. Challenges posed by legacy system: Lack of flexibility to enable new product growth Tedious and time consuming manual Rating, Billing and invoice Reconciliation process Manually intensive billing process with limited Reporting ability Complex system stack, with many interdependencies and interfaces Outdated technology (over 8 years old) Growing Support and Maintenance costs Avea realized that they would not be able to achieve their ambitions without an automated, efficient inter party engine which had robust reporting capability. Real time information and efficient reporting is a key enabler to make informed decisions about the business. Avea decided to look for an advanced Partner Settlement solution as they were growing and had much more complex business flows to be catered to and required real time reports and analysis to ensure quick action. Avea s Objectives Rationalize business by implementing an advanced Partner Settlement solution which provides converged and real time view on the health of wholesale business. Implement an advanced and powerful ETL tool which provides fast, accurate and auditable transalation of CDR events with the flexibility to introduce new events quickly. Improve Partner relationships through accurate billing, easier rate ingestion and visibility into the billing process. 02 Subex Limited

3 Why Subex? Avea had a detailed list of 700 requirements set about looking for a partner settlement solution with a strong business fit and a great reputation in this domain. After evaluating an exhaustive list of 20 vendors Avea selected Subex s Partner Settlement solution to achieve their objectives. The process began with allocation of qualified resources from both companies for individual tasks. Based on in depth analysis of Avea s requirements, target dates for delivery or completion were fixed in mutual agreement. All requirements were well defined, tested and executed. Stake holders from both Avea and Subex were well coordinated for on-time delivery. Before Go live of the project, a parallel run was performed to ensure complete execution and delivery of desired results. Further to project Go live, Subex has been providing ongoing support to ensure project success. A two month parallel run was performed with the previous system to preview possible issues and rectify the same before ROC Partner Settlement was launched. In this period both Subex and Avea teams gave a remarkable effort to ensure easy transition from old system to Subex s ROC Partner Settlement. This huge renewal project s success was an outcome of a combination of great partnership between Avea and Subex with skilled people from both sides. Solution Benefits With the replacement of legacy system with a flexible partner settlement solution- ROC Partner Settlement, Avea was able to eliminate manual reconciliation and reduce headcount. The solution not only helped Avea in reduction of Support and Operational Cost but also showed a significant increase in the number of Interconnect Partners they are dealing with and hence increased the volume of wholesale business. Subex s advanced ETL capabilities helped Avea easily process high volumes of CDRs and event records. EDRs are stored in a data repository which can be used for legal and regulatory requirements. In addition to this the EDRs are anaylsed and used for network and billing purposes. ROC Partner Settlement helped Avea automate end to end Interconnect rating, reporting and invoicing.
