2 2 BACKGROUND The Uniting Church is seeking to leverage investments in technology to improve operational efficiency, enable and empower more effective communication and extend its reach in the community. This presentation outlines key areas of focus in technology and communications; administration, collaboration and communications, content publishing, online engagement and mobile apps.

3 Current Issues Identify risks and opportunities 3 DUPLICATION OF EFFORT, NO CONSISTENCY Everyone doing their own thing, duplication of effort and reduced effectiveness. (no network effect) COMMUNICATION ON PRIVATE ACCOUNTS Members using private accounts, no access to discovery for legal/pastoral oversight. LARGE NUMBER OF UNMANAGED SITES Large surface area for attack, heightened risk from hacking, phishing or breaches of privacy, lack of available support.

4 4 BUDGET CONSTRAINTS Need to standardize, streamline and automate to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs. INACCURATE ORGANISATION RECORDS Manual, out-of-date databases, no visibility on key members within a congregation. LACK OF ENGAGEMENT Access to services is highly relational, need for defined pathways to engage, manage and support. DECLINING COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT Ageing membership, lacks of tech. skills, need for assistance to better engage the community.

5 Our Vision To equip congregations and presbyteries to effectively engage their communities 5 PROPOSED SOLUTION First, to create a light-weight centralized administrative hub to manage delegated authorization and administration of user accounts throughout Congregations and Presbyteries. Second, to use this hub to roll out a number of network services to Congregations and Presbyteries, aimed at unifying, securing and streamlining strategy, content publishing, collaboration and communications across the organisation.
