Feature enhancement highlights: Sophisticated new visual messaging provides shoppers with faster, more accurate information, reducing interventions and making self-checkout more intuitive than ever. A more personalized experience with shopper preferences and the new trust levels feature enable retailers to tailor self-checkout to the individual shopper based on the customer's loyalty card and past shopping history; thus allowing retailers to offer a higher level of trust and customer service to their most valued shoppers. More than 20 new features designed to enhance the shopper's experience at selfcheckout are now offered, including a new swipe-to-scroll receipt that is cleaner and more readable, audios that play 10% faster, fewer hassles due to "early bag removal forgiveness," and faster EFT transactions. Loyalty cards can now be scanned straight from shoppers' smart phones with imaging capable scanners. (refer to Description section). CHEC Client and BOSS Application V6.7 software integrates with the new Remote Management Agent (RMA) V3 software for a simpler, easier way to manage selfcheckout and ensure all lanes are healthy and up to date. Overview Toshiba CHEC (Checkout Environment for Consumer-Service) Client and BOSS Application software is now enhanced to provide shoppers with a self-checkout experience that is faster, easier, and more intuitive than ever before. Based on human factors research and innovation, CHEC Client and BOSS Application V6.7 delivers a powerful set of new features for self-checkout that not only enhances the shopper experience, but also reduces hassles, delays, and interventions at selfcheckout. When combined with Toshiba's award-winning System 6 self-checkout hardware, CHEC Client and BOSS Application V6.7 software can boost self-checkout throughput, enabling retailers to better optimize their front-end while also growing brand value and shopper loyalty. Toshiba CHEC Client and BOSS Application software products support Toshiba Self Checkout System 6 (machine type 4888). 1

2 Key prerequisites Hardware The Checkout Environment for Consumer-Service (CHEC) Client Application software supports the following lane models: Toshiba Self Checkout System 6 (machine type 4888) lanes available in cash and cashless configurations Toshiba Self Checkout (machine type 4845) Model Exx lanes available in cash and cashless configurations Note: CHEC Client and BOSS Application V6.5, or later, is the required prerequisite software level to support machine type Lane System Unit and Memory requirements: The self-checkout lanes system unit for machine type 4845 must be either a or The self-checkout lanes system unit for machine type 4888 must be either a or GB memory is required to support running CHEC Client on GB memory is required to support running CHEC Client on Windows TM but 2 GB memory minimum is strongly recommended. Software CHEC Client and BOSS Application V6.7 requires Store Integrator V3.3 or V3.4 on the point of sale for customers that use a Toshiba POS. The prerequisite 4690 OS software level to support the CHEC Client feature for CHEC Client on 4690 is Toshiba 4690 OS V6.3 Enhanced Terminal Program Temporary Fix (PTF) 0CD0, or later (for example 4690 OS V6.4). CHEC Client on 4690 requires Toshiba 4820 USB touch-screen. Planned availability date March 14, 2014: CHEC Client and BOSS Application V6.7 CHEC Client and BOSS Application V6.6 remains orderable; refer to the Ordering information section. Description CHEC Client and BOSS Application V6.7 enhancements include the following new features. 1.Shopper experience features that make self-checkout faster, easier, more intuitive include: 2

3 Faster credit/debit/gift card flow eliminates button pressing when paying with credit, debit, and gift cards. This also allows shoppers to pre-swipe card and reduce pinpad confusion. Cleaner and more readable receipt with improved visual layout features new gray-bar pattern and proportional fonts. Swipe-to-scroll receipt user interface provides more intuitive scrolling with swipe gesture. Enhanced visual messaging to shoppers offers smarter messaging with lightbox user interface for "more signal, less noise," providing shopper hints, reducing interventions, and helping shoppers self-correct security errors. Early bag removal forgiveness speeds the bagging process by allowing shoppers to remove bags early a configurable number of times without penalty. Loyalty card scanning from phone with image-based bioptic scanning capability is now enabled with following scanners: -- Honeywell Stratos Datalogic Magellan 9800i (requires filler plate when used with 4888 and 4845 self-checkout hardware) -- Motorola MP6200 (requires filler plate when used with 4888 and 4845 selfcheckout hardware) Toggle "need assistance" button provides shoppers with more control in determining if help is really needed, reducing unnecessary interventions. All supplied audios play 10% faster without a change in tone. Mute/Volume audio option allows shoppers to control audio levels or mute audio. Language toggle option speeds the transaction for most shoppers by eliminating the need for the language select screen. This allows language switching midtransaction. Enhanced user interface in accessibility mode provides an easier experience for shoppers since buttons now match regular layout. Alternate Shopper's Own Bags flow allows shoppers to select number of bags before setting them down. Faster handling for noninventory item sales provides the ability to turn off security for virtual items, such as car wash or lottery tickets. 2.New personalization capabilities are linked to loyalty card: Variable security configuration option increases speed through randomized security checks for all shoppers. This is configurable and allows checks for a percentage of items. Trust levels with loyalty card further reduces time to scan and bag for trusted shoppers. This reduces time and personalizes security level. Digital receipt with loyalty card can skip the receipt at the checkout and have it ed instead. Language preference with loyalty card automatically selects the shopper's preferred language on the loyalty scan. Accessibility preference with loyalty card means accessibility mode can be automatically selected on loyalty scan. 3.Remote monitoring and management: Easier systems management with RMA V3 is available and integrated with Toshiba POS and self-checkout. Simplified red, yellow, green health status is preconfigured for optimal monitoring of self-checkout. Remote action invocation is easier for support personnel to use than JMX browser. Operational problem area reports provide the top 25 security problems, assistance activities, item returns, NOF scans, item voids, and hand key-ins. 4.Other updates: GS1/AI15 sell-by date ensures self-checkout will prevent the sale of expired items (coordinated with ACE V7.4 feature). Support for IE9/10 for BOSS and eboss web pages. 3

4 Store number display for in-store BOSS web pages. Bill dispenser logs and customer receipt logs can be collected remotely for enhanced problem determination. Refer to the instructions included in the CHEC Software Planning, Installation, and Maintenance Guide for Version

9 Once the configurations and customizations are completed, these extensions may be loaded on each BOSS and lane while on site, or remotely through the use of the IBM Director and Remote Management Agent. These software products are licensed per lane client device or per server/install for BOSS. The software is entitled by ordering the Software Maintenance product. As stated in the terms of the CHEC Client and BOSS Application license information, the software components comprised in the self-checkout solution are for use with self-checkout only. A separate license is required for using these products in the enterprise outside the self-checkout environment. Security, auditability, and control The Self Checkout system provides two levels of system access security. The first level is for accessing the CHEC Back-Office System Server (BOSS), which controls the security profiles, scale files, and software updates to the lane. This security provides typical logon security to prevent unauthorized access to these files and functions on the CHEC BOSS. The second level of security is performed using the CHEC BOSS to restrict lane functions by employee. This enables a system administrator to configure allowable shopper assistant functions at the lane, such as the ability to process age-restricted items, ability to void transactions, and so on. This security helps protect the CHEC Client lanes from being used in an unauthorized manner by store employees. CHEC 6.7 Client and CHEC 6.7 BOSS have been designed to meet the guidelines for payment application vendors by the Payment Card Industry - Security Standards Council (PCI-SSC). A Payment Application - Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) Implementation Guide will be made available to assist retailers in configuring the solution stack to meet PA-DSS V2.0 guidelines. Ultimately, the retailer is responsible for validating its full solution for the Payment Card Industry - Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. Where racks, blade enclosures, or other similar equipment is being employed, each separable physical device (for example, a blade or a rack-mounted device) that has the required components is considered itself a separate server. For the purpose of server-based licensing, licensee must obtain entitlements for each server that is made available to the program, regardless of the number of processor cores and partitions in the server or the number of copies of the program on the server. Notes: Some programs may require licenses for the program and what is being managed. In that case, the following applies. In addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the servers managed by the program. Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies. Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the servers managed by program. Client device Client device is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. A client device is a single-user computing device or special-purpose sensor or telemetry device that requests the execution of or receives for execution a set of commands, procedures, or applications from or provides data to another computer system that is typically referred to as a server or is otherwise managed by the server. Multiple client devices may share access to a common server. A client device may have some processing capability or be programmable to allow a user to do work. Examples include, but are not limited to, actuators, appliances, automated teller machines, automatic meter readers, cash registers, disk drives, desktop computers, kiosks, notebook computers, personal digital assistants, point-of-sale terminals, sensors, smart meters, tape drives, and technical workstations. Licensee must obtain entitlements for every client device that runs, provides data to, uses services 12
