7 Course Overview Course Overview The intention is to deliver the ASA380 course modularized and fitting to the needs of project managers and team leads based upon ASAP project phases and work streams. Target Audience This course is intended for the following audiences: SAP Project Managers: The Project Manager is responsible for the overall management of a project throughout its lifecycle. They are responsible for defining, planning, tracking and managing the project, for identifying key resources and providing the direction they require in order to meet project objectives. The Project Manager provides leadership to cross-functional teams responsible for delivering defined project outputs to time, budget and project quality criteria. They also ensure adherence to project management methodology practices, provide team coaching, evaluate the performance of team members and reinforce the enterprise knowledge management through the collection and communication of lessons learned. SAP Team Lead: They are responsible for defining, planning, tracking and managing their respective sub-project, for identifying key resources and providing the direction they require in order to meet defined objectives. Course Prerequisites Required Knowledge (or equivalent proficiency in the following areas): SMI310 - SAP Solution Manager: Implementation Tools in Detail. OCM100 Organizational Change Management Fundamentals. VM100 - Value Management. Project Management Fundamentals or similar Project Management course based on PMI PMBOK industry standard. E2E040 SAP Operational Standards. This course is intended to be an advanced training of the ASAP Methodology for Implementation, focusing on the Project Management and project team lead point of view. We recommend the participants to attend courses listed on this slide that provide knowledge needed to understand key concepts presented in this class. Understand concepts and principles of organizational change management. Have good grasp of value management and value delivery concepts (also known in PMI terms as benefits realization). Have basic understanding of the ASAP methodology that will be further enhanced through this course. Recommended Knowledge PMP Certification from Project Management Institute (PMI). Course Goals This course will prepare the participant to: Play active role in an SAP implementation project that follows ASAP Methodology for Implementation V8. Understand the structure the SAP implementation project, its key deliverables and tasks to accomplish the project goals. Apply generic project management skills and techniques in context of SAP implementation project. Take advantage of the improvements and enhancements that were introduced in the ASAP 8 Methodology. 9 Unit 1 Introduction to ASAP Methodology for Implementation Unit Overview In this module we will focus on providing an overview of the ASAP Methodology for Implementation. We will start with the outline of the rationale for the methodology, its benefits and then we will proceed to discuss the taxonomy of the methodology with special attention to the structure of the information you can find in ASAP. We will start with discussing the rationale for turning ASAP into a prescriptive methodology to support the new way of delivering SAP Solution with SAP Advanced Delivery Management. Then we will go briefly through the evolution of ASAP to demonstrate the focus on lean implementation projects with drive for time to value and fast realization of benefits. We will then proceed to discuss the key use cases for the ASAP Methodology ranging from standard design-based ASAP projects, through Agile implementations to Assembled-to-Order projects. Then we will focus on key improvements in ASAP 8, methodology taxonomy and how to access the methodology. Lesson: SAP Advanced Delivery Management: The new way of implementing SAP Solutions Introduce SAP Advanced Delivery Management approach. Understand the rationale for the new ASAP methodology. 11 Unit 2 Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Unit Overview In this unit we ll focus on the Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) Work Stream in the different phases of an SAP implementation project. First we will introduce the SAP Best Practice-thinking with regards to Application Lifecycle Management and then look at the purpose and the key deliverables of the ALM Work Stream in the ASAP Methodology. Then, we will discuss ALM-related tasks in implementation project phases. The third chapter deals with ALM in the Operate phase. Finally, some additional information will be provided as we complete this module. 13 Unit 3 Project Management (PM) Unit Overview In this unit we ll focus on the Project Management (PM) Work Stream in the different phases of an SAP implementation project. First we will introduce the Project Management Work Stream from a general overview perspective, describe its purpose and the key deliverables across all ASAP phases. Then, in chapters 2, 3 and 4 we will cover PM deliverables related to initiating standard ASAP projects, all applicable to the Project Preparation phase. Recurring PM deliverables across All ASAP phases, And PM deliverables relevant for the planning of future steps, applicable to Go Live Support and Operate phases. Chapter 5 deals with Agile ASAP, first introducing agile concepts from a general perspective and then explaining the differences between standard ASAP and Agile ASAP. Agile ASAP is only explained as part of the PM work stream lesson of this course about ASAP Methodology for Implementation in Detail as all "agile only "deliverables and tasks are assigned to the PM work stream. But as we will see later, some tasks part of deliverables of the work stream Training, Value Management, Business Process Management and Technical Solution Management are also defined as AGILE ASAP relevant and therefore influenced by how the project management is executed. Finally, some additional information will be provided as we complete this module. 23 Unit 8 Business Process Management (BPM) Unit Overview In this unit we ll focus on the Business Process Management work stream in the different phases of an SAP implementation project. Some of the main deliverables being the creation of the Blueprint document, the Solution Transformation Design and following realization of all solution components, being it SAP Core applications, enhancements or SOA-based composite applications. The first chapter gives an overview of the Business Process Management (BPM) work stream; the second chapter gives some more information about the BPM approach. The following chapters, 3 to 5, describe the Business Process Management (BPM) deliverables within these phases of the ASAP methodology. The last chapter includes a BPM summary and links to additional material that can be accessed to further your understanding of Business Process Management (BPM).
