ICT innovation ideas for mountain sports and life Rovereto, 2013 December 10 th

for Italy 900 million euros of investments per year 99.8% of the Italian population covered 21.6 million mobile telecommunications clients Nearly 7,000 employees (99,5% permanent, 47% female) More than 150,000 training hours completed 105 NGOs supported in 2012 through charity fundraising (+8% on 2011) 5,900 tons of direct CO2 emissions avoided in % Generator Groups replaced by low impact electrification systems

for the young aims to create value for Italian young people through cooperation with universities and research centres collaboration with business incubators program of talent scouting

and the Universities works to create opportunities for undergraduates, graduates and master support project work, thesis projects and career days ANIKETOS (Università di Trento) Workshopday ICT (La Sapienza-Ingegneria) Forum UniversitàLavoro (Tor Vergata-Ingegneria) Progetta il tuo futuro-ingegneria delle TLC (Politecnico MI-Ingegneria) Career Day: (Alma Mater-Bologna; Bocconi&Jobs-Milano; Politecnico Milano; I giovani e il lavoro Luiss -Roma; Campus&Talents Tor Vergata-Roma) "Employability 2.0 Project Technical cooperation of the European funding programmes FP7-ICT FCH-JU FP7-SMARTCITIES-2013

for the talent scouting launched project in 2011 to help young entrepreneurs in transforming a business idea or a start-up in a company. WBF offers an internet platform based on three areas: Report, Training, Contests Official partners a business incubator and accelerator offering an incubation program of innovative ideas and co-working spaces. a foundation promoting the development of an entrepreneurial sustainable Italian ecosystem through a direct connection with the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Silicon Valley. a venture capital fund investing in sectors with technological innovation and growth trends

ambition and areas of innovation ambition is to: support the growth of an open environment to provide services to users connected to a "metabolic" network provide smart and sustainable solutions accessible via mobile devices switch from value chain management to ecosystems enhancing energy, human and local resources develop a reference model and an architecture to enable cooperation share needed infrastructure components define rules and processes to provide new applications to the end user

innovation for mountain sports and life Working in strategic scouting areas such as co-operative systems, multimodality, intelligent fleet management, virtual mobility, proximity services three project ideas have been selected and proposed for partnership to support the innovation path for mountain sports and life Luminous anti-injury system for circuits on ski slope Monitoring ecosystem for test and races tracking Monitoring ecosystem for advanced flow control

Luminous anti-injury system for circuits on ski slope Solution to improve security in the mountain sports based on an ecosystem made of: - GPS/3G devices and technologies - a new device to be installed in the sky slopes based on 2011 italian patent* - user applications for smartphones / tablets / PCs A new concept for ski races: resistors set in the external area of the basis platform, powered by a battery pack that, warming up, let an easy melting process from snow or ice different electronic controls into the basis platform, powered by a battery pack, that let the system sending different information to a receiver (info i.e.: battery status, geographical positioning, athlete crossing, etc.) a luminous anti-injury LED indicator, covered by transparent material, that let soften the eventual blow possibility to be shaped in the best way for a high safety and visibility, depending on the ski circuit a pressure sensor and a magnetic or electromagnetic sensor between basis platform and luminous anti injuries indicator that allow the total detachment of the luminous anti-injury indicator from the basis platform in case of crash, avoiding every injury causes a telecommunication service between the devices and a central server a set of specific applications for different users such as security, organizations, medical centres, athletes, end users *Patent by Berro, Mazzonetto, Scardellato, Sonego in collaboration with I.U.A.V.

Monitoring ecosystems for test and races tracking Complex monitoring ecosystems may be developed jointly using GPS / 3G technologies, according the Internet of Things paradigm, plus data analytics solutions Specific applications may be built for: race tracking advanced flow control for tracks (e.g ski slope, ski lift etc..) fleet management using the collected information from the trackers weared by the athletes it is possible to: increase the race visibility follow the single athlete in a group review the athlete performance with details optimise the transfer paths among the different venues save vehicle fuel reduce CO 2 emission

Monitoring ecosystems for advanced flow control Further monitoring ecosystems may provide an advanced flow control for tracks based on the mobile traffic & handovers data flows analysis to obtain an evaluation of the incoming flows in area This evaluation may be useful for optimization of things and people transportation urban / Country Territory promotion for new smart customised solutions semantic enrichment (e.g. analysis of the turism in the area): behaviour analysis on people mobility in the selected area Data collection In the new ecosystems the right to the protection of the private sphere must coexist with the right to access to knowledge, to the services as a common good Green = residential area Red = working area
