5 The GÉANT Framework GÉANT & the IaaS Framework Agreement what and why? GÉANT runs a pan-european GÉANT network available to over 50 million users at 10,000 research and higher education institutions. Their focus is on providing advanced high-speed infrastructure access, enabling European researchers to lead international collaboration. The GÉANT Association is owned by its core membership of 41 NRENs (National Research and Education Network). In Denmark the NREN is DeiC. The Framework is a contract which gives R&E institutions access to Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) technology under special commercial terms and discounts provided by vendors, which are only available through the framework. The Framework also provides a procurement route which is compliant with regulations, meaning that institutions do not need to complete a full OJEU tender process for every new IaaS contract. Better pricing than SKI and NO tenders necessary! Products on the Agreement is Microsoft Azure & Amazone Web Services with very high discounts! Advice and support from purchase to implementation and governance.
