Samuli and Pekka first met when Samuli was chosen to design and supervise a smart hybrid energy home for Pekka s family. They quickly realized that there is no user interface on the market, which would offer a simple alternative for the installers as well as the residents to combine the different systems in a home. For the pair, the lack of one did not constitute an obstacle, it only meant a delay. That lead to an intensive design and programming process, which resulted the intelligently adaptable Homiez. At the same time, KNX Taloautomaatio Oy was founded, which combined Samuli s experience with electrical installations and construction technology with Pekka s expertise in building automation and coding. In many of the pilot sites, the home s systems already speak a shared Homiez language. Success in the 2017 Rockstart Smart Energy Accelerator competition organized in Holland gave a boost to the product s potential and Homiez continues on its chosen path the revolutionization of smart homes.
