2 So you re thinking about upgrading to the latest version of SAP Hybris Commerce The world of digital commerce is always evolving and new features are getting rolled out with each new release to keep you ahead of the competition. This also means each version of any software will reach a point where limitations will creep in, and it may become more difficult to utilize these new features, while running older versions of the software. Deciding to upgrade your platform can feel overwhelming. You need to weigh the value of what you re getting against the cost of the upgrade and your projected business needs. You can start by asking yourself a few questions: Have you been running on your current platform version for more than two years? Are you able to meet your consumers expectations in terms of speed, simplicity, reliability & personalization and deliver the great consumer experience across all touch points? Is your current platform meeting all your business needs? How will your needs change over the next few years? Depending on your answers, it may be time to upgrade. 3 Have you been running on your current platform version for more than two years? SAP Hybris Commerce platform versions reach their end-of-life (EOL) approximately two years after their release, as we add new features and enhance our technology. This means that SAP Hybris will no longer provide technical support for that version under the original contract, and will no longer provide patches for bugs found in the platform, which can lead to performance and security issues down the road. As such, we recommend upgrading every two to three years to the newest version available, to keep things running as smoothly as possible. Is your current platform meeting your consumers expectations and delivering great consumer experience across all touchpoints that differentiates you from your competitors? Competition is stiff in the always-evolving digital space. Visionary leaders keep introducing new features that consumers get excited about and soon expect as the new normal. Continuously taking an honest look at your own platform, and identifying required improvements in functionality is key to reinventing yourself in the digital space. However, features and functionality from newer versions often aren t easily integrated with older versions of the platform. Customizing your existing platform may not be the right path either, as customizations are costly, and come with well-known risks and increased complexity and maintenance.
