I'm Kimberly Gist with IBM. Cloud development and deployment focuses on leveraging the cloud to deliver development intense environments, collaborate across IT teams to accelerate software and services and drive new business values through innovative offerings and services. On today's podcast, Steve Weaver, IBM Rational Cloud Marketing Manager, discusses cloud development and deployment track at Innovate, will highlight how to reduce operational and capital expenses, reduce development and test cycle time and improve the overall quality and time to market. Hi, Steve, thank you for joining us today. Thanks, Kimberly. Let's get started with our first question. The adoption of cloud technologies has grown tremendously in the last couple of years. Can you talk about how it helps with software delivery specifically? -1-

2 Absolutely. There are really three ways that Rational is leveraging the cloud. First, we're making our solutions available on the IBM SmartCloud -- that's everything from our Jazz-based product like Rational Team Concert, to our desktop tools like Rational Application Developer. Makes it easier to consume application lifecycle management by reducing the cost of installation, configuration and maintenance and by helping to facilitate globally executed development. Secondly, we're leveraging the cloud to make software delivery more effective. That helps with things like large-scale performance testing where we can provision virtual servers very quickly to test surfaces. In addition, cloud facilitates continuous delivery thus the ability to quickly build, test and deploy applications which really helps teams collaborate across both development and operation [spheres]. And finally, we're helping with a development of applications for the cloud. For example, IBM recently announced IBM PureSystems, expert integrated systems that accelerate private cloud deployment and management in an -2-

3 intelligent way. Rational is providing capabilities to migrate applications or develop new applications that can be deployed on these new optimized integrated boxes with private cloud infrastructure. Very interesting. So leveraging the cloud is clearly a key piece of the puzzle on the way to more effective software delivery. How or what are we focusing on specifically at Innovate this year in the cloud track? We've just announced some new capabilities that automates the process of deploying applications to development test and production. There's the new IBM SmartCloud continuos delivery data that we talked a little bit about at Pulse and we're going to get into in much more detail here at Innovate. Also we're going to be talking about our Platform as a Service solution on IBM SmartCloud Enterprise with our bringing your own license model for things like Rational Team Concert, Rational Quality Manager and Rational Requirement Composer as well as the new data for IBM SmartCloud Application Services, which provide Software as a Service in a kind of a pay as you go basis for all kinds of things across the software development cycle. -3-

4 Of course, we'll also be talking about the new capabilities that we have in support of IBM's PureApplication System as well that was just announced a couple of weeks ago in April. And in fact, we have sessions across the board that are delivered by IBM subject matter experts as well as our business partners and across our customers. Well, that sounds great. Do you have some key sessions that highlight these items or themes? Definitely. We have actually have a great collection of speakers on the track, from customers who are leveraging IBM Rational cloud solutions today like Gerdau Steel or like Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina, or Ecobank, as well as partners who are using our cloud solutions like as CloudOne or Prolifics or Fujitsu. Of course, for the latest information on cloud capabilities from IBM, you can check out the cloud keynote which has Rational director for offering strategy and delivery [INAUDIBLE] and devops, [Mashuk Ready]. We're particularly excited that joining us for the keynotes will be Daryl Plummer, Group Vice President and Gartner Fellow. Daryl is an internationally respected authority on Web services, Java and Cloud. His advice is regularly -4-

5 sought out by to leaders of major corporations and he's also appeared on CNN Moneyline and is frequently quoted in publications like the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. So it's going to be great to hear his thoughts around the direction of cloud computing for software delivery. Finally, in addition, there are several deep dive technical sessions on our solutions like the IBM SmartCloud Continuous Delivery, Collaborative [instant management] and our SmartCloud Enterprise offerings that [INAUDIBLE] as well. Wow, all great speakers and definitely great session opportunities. Where else at Innovate can attendees get more information on cloud? That's a great question. I suggest that attendees looking to find out more should visit the Solution Center where again we'll be hosting a Walk in the Cloud, kind of a large interactive zone where attendees can meet with IBM cloud experts, see the latest cloud technologies as well as hang out on the comfy couches [INAUDIBLE]. It was really a big hit last year, and we hope it will be again this year. I'm sure it will be; I remember those couches from last year. So some great and innovative conversations -5-
