TABLE OF CONTENT Introduction... 3 Create calculation trace... 4 Further analysis... 9 Useful Notes/KBAs

Introduction Before you submit your XBRL instance to the US SEC, you can run a calculation trace on the instance within the application. This will ensure that any errors and inconsistencies are resolved before submitting. The calculation trace detects roll up issues, i.e. each time the sum of amounts on child accounts (including the weight) is different from the aggregated parent value. Please note that calculation errors are often just warning in the context of US SEC reporting They are not blocking errors for submission and most can even be considered as normal, due to multiple hierarchies that are defined on a concept. 3

Create calculation trace Reminder: the US SEC Calculation plugin needs to be active. There are two options of creating the calculation trace. 1. Within the XBRL instance generation Tick the option US SEC Calculation Trace 2. As an ad-hoc action 4

Both methods will start a Task and the Task Engine will run the Calculation trace. Once the task is complete, you can open the Calculation Trace, either directly when it was ran ad-hoc..or if included in the XBRL generation, go to the revisions tab: 5

Click on Download and select the US SEC calculation trace Ultimately, for both methods, a HTML report will open (inside the zip) 6

The report will show the taxonomy used (the.xsd file) and the errors per role. If all is correct, there will be no errors. 7

If there are errors, there are sections per role and each element that caused an error is specified. The submitted value is shown together with the calculated value (i.e. what the sum is) 8

Further analysis As the report lacks full details, (e.g. it does not give the details of the amounts in the calculation tree) we recommend using the Fujitsu Xwand Instance Creator. See: Run the Xwand tool, and open the instance document. Note: if you run >Tools > Report > Report Calculation Result you will see a similar report as the Calculation Trace, as Disclosure Management leverages this functionality. To get more details, switch to Calculation view. Then, select >Tools >Calculation Check 9

You will now see the value and the calculated value in a view that also shows the complete tree of parent and descendants. Any discrepancies are highlighted in red Using this, you can adjust and correct the mapping (in Excel with the XBRL mapper) and re-generate the XBRL instance. 10
