2 «AUTOMATION & ELECTRONICS - CONSOLIDATING EXPERTISE AND KNOWHOW AT A SINGLE VENUE» The success of «AUTOMATION Schweiz» had led to its coming to be acknowledged over previous years as the Swiss branch event as far as Automation and Electronics were concerned. Laying the foundations for the emergence of a compact format solution based on the consolidation of organisational expertise in the Fairs and Exhibitions sector with professional skills is a collaborative approach on the part of the specialist trade association swisst.net. WHAT ARE THE OPPORTUNITIES AND THE POTENTIAL OFFERED BY THE NEW EXHIBITION FORMAT? MEMBERS OF THE ADVISORY BOARD REPORT BACK: Roland Steinemann, Director, swisst.net: This probably constitutes a one-off opportunity for the exhibitors, the visitors and for Switzerland as a workplace. What we need to offer the visitor, from one year to the next, is the chance to familiarise himself directly and at first hand with news and trends from the sector, to cultivate existing contacts and to acquire new ones. In terms of quality, a personal encounter is superior to an electronic exchange of information in a number of respects; this is the reason why there is a need for a platform of this sort on a regular basis. It is only by ensuring optimum levels of automation that «Swiss Made» can hold its own on the world market. And, to pave the way for the development of this «optimum level of automation» in Switzerland, there is a need for a particular closeness and trust between supplier and customer. And there s only room for trust to develop where people know each other. «It is only by going for the best automation possible that Swiss Made can expect to hold its own on the world market» Roland Steinemann, swisst.net Paolo Salvagno, Director B&R Switzerland: Amalgamating the two specialist fairs swisst.fair and Automation Schweiz to create the new format «automation & electronics» has proved a long looked-for and astute decision. Now, thankfully, there is only one other specialist trade fair every other year that can boast even more visitors. André Spring, Member of the Board, Ineltro AG: The «automation & electronics» Fair gives the world of electronics the opportunity to present itself to us in the form of a corporate platform for the sector. In 2015 this platform will signify an important event for us in that it will give us the opportunity to position our technical competence in the foreground, to get to know new business partnewwrs and to meet our existing partners and customers. As far as the individual designer is concerned, synergies generated at the Fair will provide the opportunity to spend a day focussing on acquiring information about current levels of research and development. «The desire of the swisst.net members for a clearly structured and optimised Swiss exhibition landscape has been met with the introduction of the «automation & electronics» Fair. This presents the ideal platform for showcasing innovations and for meeting representatives of all sectors in a focussed environment at a single venue». Eric Bru tsch, Member of the Central Board of swisst.net Eric Bru tsch, member of the Central Board of swisst.net: One of the most important points as far as I am concerned is to satisfy the sector s needs for a platform for networking and for showcasing innovations and new products. However, at the same time, we are anxious to give consideration to the wishes of the exhibitors as well. The success of an optimum mix ensures satisfaction and means that people start marking off the next event on the calendar. With locations in German- and French-speaking Switzerland, we are also well-placed from a regional point of view.
