Overview Introducing the Panoptix Platform, a new approach that makes building efficiency easier than ever. The Panoptix Platform is a new way to achieve efficiency in a building, or across a portfolio of buildings. It allows you to connect your building systems (for example, building automation and meters), share the data with enterprise applications, and optimize overall building efficiencies. The result is a platform that provides secure connectivity, insight, and control. Delivery through a Software as a Service (SaaS) model Availability of a developer's kit that enables third-party application development The Panoptix solution is a fully scalable platform that adapts to your changing business needs. You can integrate with Metasys sites natively, and you can also integrate with other sites using a Network Integration Engine (NIE). This capability lets you access enterprise-wide information from a central location. It lets you see the bigger picture. At its core, the Panoptix solution consists of the following components: Figure 1: Panoptix User Interface Collection of data from your building systems s that transform the data into information you can use to achieve building performance optimization, as well as energy optimization Data hosting in the cloud Ongoing support provided by Live Guide experts and the Panoptix Connected Community To make it as flexible a platform as possible, the Panoptix product also includes the following features: Open platform Ability to work with many types of equipment Secure connectivity with advanced analytics Features and Benefits Features Benefits Single Authoritative Source of Building Data Combines data from building systems into a single coherent source that lets you analyze and manage enterprise-wide building information. 2 Features Flexibility in Payment Common User Interface Backward and Forward Compatibility Benefits Allows you to pay as you go. Makes applications easy to learn and easy to use. Allows integration with an existing Metasys system (Release 2.2 or later 1 ) installed base, as well as with other systems. Provides the capability to enable future and still unknown integrations. Scalable Platform Platform Services Provides the same analytical tools to small, simple facilities and large, complex multi-location enterprises. Includes an Developer Program that provides the tools, resources, and services for third parties to integrate applications with the Panoptix Platform. Provides a Panoptix Marketplace with a catalog of applications (developed by Johnson Controls and by third-party developers) available for the Panoptix Platform. Single Sign On Robust Security Saves time by allowing you to log in to all applications at once. Uses encryption, firewalls, and application-based authorization to ensure your data's safety. 1 If the Metasys system is earlier than Release 6.5, then only the site director (ADS/X or NAE) must be upgraded to Release 6.5 or later. Panoptix Connectivity to a Building Automation System Due to recent advancements in the architecture of the Panoptix Platform, a separate gateway is no longer required at your site in order to connect to the cloud-based Panoptix Platform. Now the Metasys Building Automation System (BAS) (Release 6.5 or later) can be configured and connected directly to the Panoptix Platform. With the use of a Network Integration Engine (Release 6.5 or later), the same connectivity can also be achieved with a third-party BAS. Figure 2 provides a high-level overview of this setup. Figure 2: Panoptix Connectivity to a BAS Panoptix s Panoptix applications are a suite of building performance and energy management applications available through a Software as a Service (SaaS) model and hosted in the cloud. All Panoptix applications provide a user-friendly interface that allows you to enter data-filtering criteria and scheduling intervals to gather trend, alarm, audit data, and output file types. In addition, all Panoptix applications have the same Johnson Controls look and feel, which makes them easy to learn and easy to use. The current release of the Panoptix product is available in American English, British English, Dutch, French, German, Spanish, and Japanese, and includes the following applications: (Standard and Enterprise) Advisor Custom Analyzer These applications are available independently on a subscription basis, so you can choose which applications best meet your needs. The following sections provide more details about these applications. 2

3 Advisor lets you track and report your facility's energy use, utility cost, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. You can review data for a single building or for a group of buildings, and you can compare current data to historical data. The data can be normalized by square footage, occupancy, or other key metrics. Advisor continually monitors data from existing building systems and automatically detects problems that waste energy, create uncomfortable conditions, or may lead to premature equipment failure. Advisor also lets you specify which users should be notified of faults. is available in two versions: Advisor automates detection of problems in packaged HVAC units, fan coils, air handlers, VAV boxes, and electrical demand meters. This application uses a variety of techniques, including statistics, to detect faults. This variety of techniques helps reduce nuisance faults. Standard for customers who want to use multiple Panoptix applications in the building and need to pull detailed trending and near-real-time energy data Enterprise for customers who only need to view utility bill energy data within Carbon and Energy Reporter and do not use additional Panoptix applications With, you gain the following advantages: Consolidated energy data across your enterprise, whether it is a single campus or a large multinational organization with thousands of sites Consistent method for tracking and reporting carbon emissions across the enterprise Ad hoc report capabilities that can streamline the generation of internal information requests and submission to external standards and protocols With Advisor, you gain the following advantages: Patented Johnson Controls algorithms, based on years of expertise, that detect problems requiring corrective action Early detection of potential problems such as abnormal meter energy consumption, as well as abnormal peak demand Reduced cost and inconvenience from repairs Timely and cost-effective decision making ability Figure 4: Advisor Figure 3: 3

4 Custom Analyzer Custom Analyzer is a highly flexible tool that allows user-directed data analysis by providing an open-ended method for browsing connected system data or generated data for one or more points. You can create the following documents: Trendline Chart displays one or more trendable values Runtime Report indicates how often, and by how much, a given trended value has exceeded a user-specified setpoint Data points that can be viewed, trended, and reported in a Panoptix application must be defined in the building automation system and the Panoptix virtual gateway. With Custom Analyzer, you gain the following advantages: Easy-to-use, multiple charts that allow views of trends on different unit scales; however, you can only use one time scale for a set of charts Information that helps you explore why problems occur Analysis tools that can be used with any Panoptix application Visibility of data patterns and data relationships automatically measures and verifies the savings that result when you implement energy efficiency improvement projects. Based on an industry standard approach to measurement and verification known as International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) Option C (Whole Building Retrofit), uses actual measured data from utility meters, building systems, and business applications as inputs to a baseline that you create. This information helps you monitor the performance of your energy efficiency projects. With, you gain the following advantages: A simple and consistent approach to measurement and verification of energy savings Automated data collection, scrubbing, and processing Savings calculated with statistical confidence Figure 6: Figure 5: Custom Analyzer 4
