3 IBAK IKAS evolution The New Generation of the Efficient Sewer Analysis Software IKAS 2 1 Fig. 1: Context-sensitive menus and templates Fig. 2: Hotkeys for the next operating step IKAS evolution is the new generation of the efficient sewer analysis software IKAS. On the basis of a completely newly developed software platform, the new concept implements IBAK s many years of knowhow in the acquisition and analysis of sewer inspection data. The operator is offered modern and efficient user guidance. Thanks to intuitive operating procedures, after a short familiarisation period, the inspector is already in full control of the acquisision and analysis of sewer data in all complexity. IKAS evolution is configurable for all commonly used sets of rules and standards and client requirements on condition assessment naturally also in accordance with EN The software is available for IBAK modular systems (vehicle-based), vehicle-independent systems with a BK3.5 control device, IBAK push rod systems and office workstations. As a workflow system, IKAS evolution can be precisely adapted to the project requirements. IKAS evolution can be equipped with the appropriate sewer data interfaces to suit the wishes of the client. So all possibilites of the inspection system can be used comprehensively. At the same time, the various measurement options can be applied according to need. The requirements of individual clients can be managed in the order rules. Here, among other things, the MPEG format, the sewer data interface, settings for the data video overlay and, if applicable, extensive client-specific reference tables can be stored. So the user can create a new project at any time with all the settings that are important to the client in question. 3

On the other hand, the user must be in a position to react flexibly to specific occurrences. For example, if the master data for a measurement are missing or the position of the pipe is different to expected, the requirements change and other control elements are needed. IKAS evolution provides the user with a tool which allows him to react easily to such particular circumstances. Without any bewildering dialogue guidance, it is possible to switch over from the Inspection Assistant to the network graphics with the pipe run preview, the master or inspection data, the PC video image or even to the inspection settings. One-Click Data Transfer In the data transfer dialogue, the entire inspection results can be compiled quickly and in a user-friendly way. Of course, the inspection results can also be transferred to the client in a completely digital and paperless form with a free-of-charge view-only program the IKAS evolution Viewer. With the Viewer, the customer has at his disposal a small information system that can also display sewer network graphics. In the dialogue, all settings can be made quickly and clearly. This makes it easy to fulfil the customers wishes and requirements with regard to the data exchange file, reports, statistics, film names, etc. The effects of the settings are immediately shown in the preview. 5

If you are familiar with one program, you can also operate the next one. An operating concept that is known in the field of aeronautics as the airbus principle. If you know the cockpit of one aircraft type, you are also at home in the next aircraft. The IBAK software product portfolio already includes: IKAS evolution: Sewer database and inspection IKAS SanPlan: Rehabilitation planning IKAS Cleaner: Cleaning data IKAS Gator: Rehabilitation report IRIS: Drainage system resident information and process control The IKAS programs are of modular design and are optionally equipped with interfaces to all common sewer and GIS databases. IBAK IKIS is a sewer data manager that provides excellent service as a central sewer data station. 6

9 13 14 IKAS evolution MAP Extensions With the MAP extensions, IKAS evolution evolves from a sewer analysis software program to a sewer GIS. The graphical sewer network presentation integrates seamlessly with the operating concept. In each situation the user has an overview of the sewer network and its environment. With the integrated 3D Viewer, a selected part of the network can be displayed in three dimensions from any desired viewing angle (fig. 13). This only requires a sewer database with coordinates in a sewer data format (ISYBAU, DWA-M 150, EuroDSS, CSV, Shape...). The network graphics (fig. 14) can be displayed immediately after the data import. Paper maps or other software products are no longer required on the TV system. The inspection job can be performed entirely graphically on the monitor. During the inspection, the camera position can be shown in the network graphics at any time. Sewer objects that have already been inspected are marked in colour. The condition data and inspection results are presented graphically and can be conveniently viewed in the client s office with the free-of-charge IKAS evolution Viewer. In digitization mode, new sewer data can be generated on a graphical level. At the same time, with the CAD tools, not only are the position and the pipe run captured graphically but the associated coordinates are also stored in the sewer database. With suitable data interfaces (ISYBAU, DWA-M 150, EuroDSS, CSV, IBAK ISF, etc.), these coordinates can be transferred to the customer as sewer master data for the client s GIS. In this way, inspection results are generated with a graphical presentation even if no master data is available from the network operator. These results can be conveniently transferred and viewed with the free-of-charge IKAS evolution Viewer. The IKAS evolution Route Assistant automatically generates the run of laterals in a single operation. All laterals that discharge via a connection to the mainline sewer (including nth order pipes) are processed. The Network Section Assistant calculates the three-dimensional pipe run from the TV inspection data including all information on the defect coding of bends, branches and pipe connections. Fig. 13: Fig. 14: Integrated 3D Viewer Network graphics laterals are integrated automatically (depending on the interface) 9

10 15 16 In a few steps, the run is adapted to the existing information on the terrain and land register maps. As a result, besides the graphical presentation in the network map and the vertical profile, the coordinates (X, Y, Z) of each inflection point are also stored in the database. If the mainline sewer data is georeferenced, you obtain the associated georeferenced lateral network directly and without any additional effort. IKAS evolution 3D-GeoSense Pipe Run Measurement of Laterals and Mainline Sewers In conjunction with a suitably equipped sewer inspection system, IKAS evolution 3D-GeoSense captures the pipe run measurement data. In IKAS evolution MAP, the pipe run data is presented in real time, direct and live. 3D-GeoSense is the ideal extension to IKAS evolution with a MAP Route Assistant (fig. 15). The operating procedures for pipe run measurement are seamlessly integrated into IKAS evolution inspection mode. This results in simple and clear working procedures that ensure error-free, high-precision inspection and measurement. The run of the lateral or the section between manholes is always measured three-dimensionally and stored as an xyz coordinate. If georeferenced master data and reference points are used for measurement, the result is also georeferenced and can be exported directly and without any additional effort in all common sewer data formats (IBAK-ISF, DWA-M 150, ISYBAUxml, etc). With IKAS evolution MAP, the network map can naturally be output as a printout and in DXF format. Hydrostatic Level Measurement With IBAK s patented hydrostatic level measurement system, extremely precise elevations (+/- 1 cm) can be measured. An IBAK sewer inspection system with a flushing unit and a hydrostatic level measuring system captures the elevations of the pipe runs accurately to one centimetre. The flushing drive is interrupted for only a few seconds for a measuring point for this purpose and the camera can then immediately continue travelling through the sewer. 11 17 18 PANORAMO The IBAK PANORAMO system is the patented alternative to conventional video recording. IKAS evolution is the ideal tool for the PANORAMO system as an assistant to scan the films and for further processing with the PANORAMO analysis and evaluation system either directly with the PANORAMO system or in the office. The user always has the best possible overview in scan mode for optimum film quality and is given professional support during data acquisition and to ensure compliance with the rules and standards. The result of a PANORAMO inspection with IKAS evolution is always flexible enough to meet the various requirements of the clients, in accordance with commonly used sets of rules and standards. With PANORAMO technology, the inspection workstation can be moved to the office. After the film has been scanned on site, all further work steps can be performed in the office without any further on-site work from condition assessment through classification to rehabilitation planning Fig. 17: No matter whether with the IBAK PANORAMO system or in the office: The IKAS evolution PANORAMO Assistant clearly shows which steps have already been performed to complete the job and which are still outstanding. Fig. 18: Unfolded view with change of materials Fig. 19: The Inspection Assistant asks the user for all the necessary data for the required defect entry. With easy to remember symbols, even newcomers to sewer inspection find it very easy to choose the correct defect code. Fig. 20: Frequently used defect codes can easily be assigned to a hotkey. This means that the entire defect entry with all data can be entered with a click or the hotkey. 11

12 21 22 Rehabilitation Planning With the SanPlan extension, IKAS evolution evolves into an extensive and professional rehabilitation planning tool. All the advantages of the IKAS evolution platform with the MAP component, the sewer data interfaces, etc. are available for rehabilitation planning. At the same time, it remains linked to the IBAK Sewer Data Manager IKIS. Thus, IKAS evolution SanPlan can be used for comprehensive processing of rehabilitation projects either as an independent application or integrated into IKIS. Rehabilitation tasks are created and managed within the framework of a client/project management system. Users who work with the IBAK Sewer Data Manager IKIS can use the direct data link between the two programs. In this case, SanPlan serves as a rehabilitation project manager. With a view to comprehensive rehabilitation planning, all the required data (master and inspection data, videos, maps, aerial photos) can be imported into SanPlan. The user can view, check and supplement the data as required. With the integration into IKIS, the films and photos stored in IKIS are used directly. For each station (defect) in need of rehabilitation, a rehabilitation measure (consisting of any number of individual measures) can be specified. This is done taking account of information such as the rehabilitation technique, the technique parameters, the quantity and the costs. Various types of rehabilitation reports are available for output. To specify the rehabilitation measure, SanPlan already contains a very detailed hierarchically arranged table of techniques. This can be adapted to suit your own requirements and extended with new developments in the rehabilitation market. To ensure optimum clarity and rapid functioning, the possible techniques are prefiltered according to the master data and the planning specifications and are displayed in the dialogues for planning work. Fig. 21: Fig. 22: Detailed rehabilitation planning Table of techniques in IKAS evolution SanPlan 12

13 Interactively linked M150, ISYBAU, IKIS A distinction is made between renovation, repair and replacement. With the possibility of creating and planning any number of alternative rehabilitation techniques, a comparison of the costs can be made between various implementation methods and even depreciation types. A rehabilitation project can be divided up into different stages. The costs can be approximately estimated from the first rough preliminary plan. With further basic planning through to implementation and preference planning, the calculation of the technical requirements and costs becomes more and more differentiated but still nonetheless transparent.
