PRODUCT SHEET: CA VIRTUAL PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT CA Virtual Performance Management CA Virtual Performance Management (CA VPM) maximizes the business value of IT services by providing a unique, integrated view of physical and virtual server infrastructure. Using integration with CA Assurance and Automation Managers, CA VPM improves service quality and efficiency, increases agility, provides a greater ROI, and mitigates IT and business risks. With strong innovation, heterogeneous support, highly capable, proven solutions, and a customer satisfaction rating of 4 out of 5, CA is stepping up to the virtualization management challenge like no other vendor, taking a welldeserved solo spot on the Virtual System Management All Star First Team. EMA Report, Business Value CA VPM delivers an integrated physical and virtual management for multi-platform, multi-vendor server technologies enhancing operational visibility and providing a greater ROI for the customer. Solution Overview Only 15% of workloads are virtualized today. As more VMs come online enterprises are faced with a plethora of challenges from VM sprawl, security, automation to managing heterogeneous environments. CA VPM addresses these head-on by providing centralized management across physical and virtual systems resulting in greater ROI and operational visibility. Delivery Approach CA Services is an integral part of the CA VPM solution providing assessment, implementation and healthcheck services that enable customers to accelerate the time-to-value of virtualization investment, mitigate implementation risks and improve the alignment between IT and business processes.

What s New, What s Compelling CA VPM is an add-on product to CA Assurance and Automation Managers that delivers an integrated physical and virtual management for multi-platform, multi-vendor server technologies such as VMware. Support for Clusters, Sun, Citrix and IBM virtual platforms forthcoming. Features Real-time Discovery and Topology Mapping: Real-time discovery enables administrators to locate every aspect of the virtual host and its virtual machines, providing valuable knowledge about performance and availability. Single Pane of Glass for Virtual and Physical Environments: Provides a central point of control for managing physical and virtual environments delivering greater operational visibility. Dynamic Optimization of Virtual Resources: Using a patented capability Dynamic Resource Brokering, IT administrators proactively respond to changing business demands by using business policy and performance data to allocate and reallocate systems resources in real-time. Performance Management and Reporting: Provides real-time and historical performance of physical and virtual environments. Customers gain valuable insights of a given virtual container, of the relative performance of a given VM compared to other VMs, and of the relative performance of groups of VMs. This improved level of performance and utilization enables customers to reap resource optimization anywhere between 15% and 30% over their original deployment. Driving Security Compliance: Enables role-based management by defining access privileges according to the role of the user and also ensuring the security of VMs in motion.

Integrations with CA Assurance and Automation Managers: CA ehealth Performance Manager and CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager and CA ehealth Performance Manager now provide the ultimate integrated management experience for both physical and virtual systems via CA VPM. This new capability allows CA VPM to proactively poll and capture critical real-time metrics directly from VMware vcenter Servers used in diagnosing performance problems, fault isolation and root-cause analysis reducing downtime. CA ehealth Performance Manager: Discover and monitor virtualized servers and their virtual machines (VMs) Analyze data for systemic issues using time over threshold and deviation from normal violations Collection of performance and availability metrics from the virtual servers At a Glance and Trend Reports for virtual servers CA Spectrum Infrastructure Manager: Discover and monitor virtualized servers and their virtual machines (VMs) Visualize the logical relationships between physical and virtual servers Detect changes in virtual servers and automatically update topology Enhance fault isolation to suppress alarms on logical VMs when physical servers fail View physical resource allocation and utilization

FIGURE B: Topology Map of Virtual environment in Spectrum Infrastructure Manager Automatically identifies all systems and network assets and builds an accurate topology map of both physical and virtual elements. CA Spectrum Automation Manager: CA VPM s integration with CA Spectrum Automation Manager delivers comprehensive monitoring, management, and reporting across virtual, physical, and cloud environments. Enhances discovery capabilities by identifying the relationship between the physical host and VMs Enhances performance monitoring to quickly identify over utilized resources Uses this information to automate allocation/provisioning of additional resources or the migration of VMs

Customer Benefits CA VPM delivers tanglible business benefits and ROI for its enterprise customers. These include: Improved Agility CA VPM ensures application and systems availability and facilitates real-time change management for dynamic virtualized environments. Improved Service Quality CA VPM enhances discovery, tracking, and monitoring of virtual resources. It ensures optimal performance of virtual server resources and improves HA, DR and BC. Increased Efficiency CA VPM dramatically streamlines processes and reduces costs, increases server and VM utilization using Dynamic Resource Brokering capability, and also optimizes energy management. Reduced IT and Business Risks CA VPM helps expansion of virtual infrastructure with reduced risks and lower costs of management. Additionally, CA VPM addresses performance, compliance and security risks. Supported Platforms CA VPM supports management and administration of following virtual and OS platforms: Virtual Environments: VMware vcenter and VMware ESX Sun Solaris Zones and Containers (coming soon) IBM LPAR P5 and P6 Systems (coming soon) Citrix Xen (coming soon) Operating Systems Environments: Windows Server Operating Systems Sun Solaris AIX Red Hat Linux SUSE Linux HPUX DIGITAL UNIX More information about specific versions is available on CA Support site.

Why CA? Joint solutions from CA and VMware deliver proven, mature, end-to-end management for both physical and virtual environments across systems and networks. Additionally, CA VPM has the unique ability to integrate with CA Assurance and Automation Managers offering operational visibility and a single point of management across physical and virtual environments. Through the use of a patented functionality called Dynamic Resource Brokering, CA VPM customers can allocate and reallocate system resources when and where they are needed based on business priorities. This improved level of performance and utilization enables customers to reap resource optimization anywhere between 15% and 30% over their original deployment. Copyright 2009 CA. All rights reserved.
