2 INTRODUCTION This presentation provides a shorts introduction to Factory IT s responsibilities and systems supported by Factory IT. The purpose of the FIT department is to ensure high availability on all factory IT systems and to have the necessary knowledge to handle these systems. This will be ensured through standardized systems, system overview, proactive monitoring, 24/7 support and with high focus on risk controlled software and hardware implementations. Factory IT consists of 37 employees with specialist skills in factory IT, within these main areas: VMWARE and physical servers. MES / Data capture systems including hardware e.g. printers, PC terminals, scanners etc.. Scada systems and Automation IT. Database and reporting. 1 st and 2 nd level IT support.

3 EMPLOYEES Employees in Factory IT, has been with Danish Crown for many years, and are enjoying working in a department that is constantly in development in terms of technology. Factory IT employees normally comes from the two technology worlds (IT and Automation (OT)). This match of different competence is very important for the department. 4 FACTORY OVERVIEW Factory IT supports most of the factories in Danish Crown s PORK and BEEF division, and the larger Tulip factories in Denmark and Germany. UK, Germany, Poland, Sweden and Denmark

5 IT ORGANIZATION Factory IT and other IT functions reports to CIO Elo Bromer (EHB). Danish Crowns IT department consists of approx. 150 employees.


7 PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Factory IT s primary responsibilities are to ensure the following points: Site level agreement. System overview and standardized systems Proactive monitoring of server hardware, databases, IT applications and Windows OS. 24/7 support (1st and 2nd level support). Project Management. Backup and restore of servers. Management of software licenses. Co-operation between Automation and Administrative IT / ERP. Develop and store documentations for IT factory systems on SharePoint. Optimising and management of production databases. Ensure stable server environment. Operational responsibilities of data capturing systems and labelling systems.

Primary tasks: - VMWARE - Physical servers - Backup - Monitoring - Licensing - Automation IT - 2 nd level support Primary tasks: - Knowledge of systems architecture - Database maintenance and optimising - Report development - 2 nd level support Primary tasks: - Data capture systems - Hardware knowledge of peripheral equipment - Labelling systems - 1 st and 2 nd level support Primary tasks: - Local knowledge of the systems - Local coordination - 1 st and 2 nd level support - Detailed knowledge of primary systems

10 FACTORY IT A TYPICAL DAY IN THE DEPARTMENT The first employee starts at 5:00 am in time for production start. Reviewing systems alarms etc., ensuring all IT systems are ready for production start. There is a high focus on systems up time, because of the high costs a stop of production has on the factories economy. The remaining employees start between 7:00 and 8:00 am. Employees has got various daily tasks, but one thing is common for all, and that is, that no day is the same and a typical day consists of a lot of unplanned tasks. Production stop has always the highest priority in the department, and other ongoing tasks and project related tasks, must be put on hold, in order to focus on the production stop. It is important that all employees are ready to embrace changes and thrives in a busy and challenging working environment. Most employees have been in Danish Crown for many years, which indicates that they are happy working for a dynamic company which never sleeps. The department is communication daily with many people across the business. The primary language is Danish, but also Swedish, German and English is used. In the future all documentation and communication will be done in English. For some the work day stops around 1:00 pm, but most of the employees finishes around 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Outside normal business hours, the Service Desk is open and manned by employees on turns.
