3 ON YOUR SIDE, THE STRENGTH OF A TEAM. ABOUT US S.D.M. Measuring Instruments started in the metrology business in 1992, when the industry started the ISO 9000 quality certification requirements, with the need for periodic calibration and inspection of measuring and testing instruments. In 2001 with the need to establish uniform and reproducible methods in the metrological business, and especially in the calibration of measuring instruments, S.D.M. Measuring Instruments became SIT accredited centre no. 142, and later LAT centre no. 142 with the transition to ACCREDIA, the unified certification and accreditation body. Today S.D.M. Measuring Instruments is among the most recognized calibration laboratories in Italy in its field, with sixteen employees with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. Alessandro and Simone Landucci are not just brothers and founders, but have different and complementary areas of responsibility within the company: the first commercial, the second technical: together they give strenght to whole team. In S.D.M. Measuring Instruments we carry out calibration services for more than 100 types of instruments, the result of years of study and considerable investment. In addition to the LAT accreditation and operating in compliance with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025, since 2016 we started a Lean Production process, involving all staff info a continuous improvement path. Research, innovation, professionalism and attention to the customer s needs are words that we have turned into facts and this allows S.D.M. Measuring Instruments to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex market.

4 Examples of instruments that we normally calibrate. Length is our speciality, but we perform calibration of many other measuring instruments, in different units, such as: OPERATING AREAS Today more than ever, we want to represent excellence in metrology. Thanks to a strong and up-to-date technical staff, accreditation extensions and constant innovation, over 2000 clients rely on S.D.M. Measuring Instruments for the calibration of their instruments. The areas in which we work range from earth moving to the oil & gas industry, from automotive to aerospace, and from transport to engineering and research services, from construction to medical laboratories and from labs to producers and distributors of measuring instruments. We provide both LAT certificates for calibration under accreditation in compliance with UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17025, and test reports outside the accreditation limits. In either case, we carry out these calibration services also directly in customers premises. 5 LEADTIME & WORK FLOW Our goal is to monitor each stage of the process, working hard to improve it, to ensure quality and a lead time within 7 working days. Our response time? 7 working days. BESIDES THE CALIBRATION, MANAGEMENT OF THE MEASURING INSTRUMENT CHECK-IN The first step in the process is completed the same day the measuring instrument is received by S.D.M. Measuring Instruments, and includes check-in, unpacking and preparing the calibration. If the instrument shows anomalies that make calibration impossible, we will send it back, repair it or replace it with a new one. REGISTERING IN THE SYSTEM AND CREATING MASTER DATA * The second phase of the process is completed on the second day of the arrival of the instrument. After the instrument has been registered in the gauge management system, the inspection order, master data and bar code for handling and internal traceability are generated. The instrument moves to the third stage of processing or remains on standby, pending order by the customer. PROCESSING/CALIBRATION The third phase covers the calibration process. In the laboratory, the instrument is calibrated according to an agreed plan. This is the longest step and ends on the fifth working day. In addition to the calibration, we offer a keys in your hand gauge management service, taking care of all periodical inspections that are generally the responsibility of the customer. Through a web-based platform, the customer is able, through a password, to log on to our website, where we make gauge management software available. The service is complete and ranges from the setup of gauge cards and their update with calibration events, to the metrological confirmation, to the analysis and management of instrumental drift. QUALITY CONTROL At this step, which ends on the sixth day, the planning and the final documentation are double-checked, and we verify that the job has been performed professionally according to customer specifications and in accordance with our order confirmation. The 7 days lead time is guaranteed if the order has been approved on the second day and during the second. phase. SHIPPING The fifth phase of the process is executed and concluded on the seventh working day from the arrival of the instrument. The calibrated instrument is packed and shipped. By accessing the portal, each customer is able to track our workflow and the status of his gauges in the calibration process. In addition, we are able to evaluate the conformity of the calibrated measuring by comparing the results with the MPE, allowing the customer to process the metrological confirmation status through the workflow. In addition to the setup and update of the gauge cards and the metrological confirmation activity, we can process the drift of the instrument and allow the customer to manage calibration deadlines precisely and accurately.

8 TRAINING COURSES A STEP FORWARD IN METROLOGY WITH A S.D.M. We value your instruments and also the people using them. We offer training courses specifically designed for the industry. A wide training course programme is possible also thanks to the contribution of our engineers. The goal is to provide information about the importance of measuring instruments in any enterprise and hence the need for calibration and control. The courses are based on the experience gained through years of assistance, counselling and training in different industry areas and provide not only theoretical knowledge, but also extensive practical experience through tutorials. All courses are run regularly at our agency premises in Veneto, Emilia and in Friuli Venezia Giulia or at the customer s site. Examples of training courses in our catalogue BASIC METROLOGY COURSE The aim of the course is to provide the basic concepts of metrology in order to give a good understanding of both regulatory and customer requirements in the field of metrology. The course stresses the importance of the need to calibrate instruments, implying that the maximum error of a measuring instrument also depends on how it is used. METROLOGY COURSE - EVALUATION OF MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY The course provides the know-how to calculate the measurement uncertainty in a measurement process. It also provides information about the purchasing process of metrological equipment, providing an advantage in terms of quality of the measurement process. METROLOGY COURSE - AUDITS OF PRODUCT COMPLIANCE AND METROLOGICAL CONFIRMATION The course explains the decision rules to demonstrate compliance or noncompliance of products and instruments with the specifications. It also explains the importance of evaluation of measurement uncertainty in testing of tolerances.
