2 SAP Brief Deliver intelligent applications and analytics faster To power new applications enabling intelligent business processes, enterprises must generate real-time insight from data and use analytics. Data management solutions available as a fully managed service can help IT accelerate the pace of innovation with instant provisioning and elastic scale, while reducing cost by paying only for what is used. Deliver intelligent applications and analytics faster Businesses often struggle to create analytic solutions that use internal and external data and intelligent applications to support real-time decision-making and task automation. Many legacy data management solutions are too slow to support tools that provide real-time situation awareness, and on-premise infrastructure provisioning and maintenance can hamper business agility. Cloud-based database management systems can help, but it can be hard to choose one cloud-service provider that offers appropriate data management technology. That s why we offer SAP Cloud Platform, SAP HANA service. Available on all major public clouds, SAP HANA as a Service is fully managed by SAP and offers instant provisioning, consumption-based pricing, and elastic scale. With this service, you can embrace data management and gain access to the most advanced data platform technology for creating dynamic data marts and intelligent applications at the speed your business needs. 2 / 11

3 SAP Brief Part of SAP Cloud Platform, SAP HANA as a Service runs on multiple clouds and is compatible with other deployments of the SAP HANA business data platform. You can easily move your applications and data between clouds and on premise, or build cloud-based extensions for your on-premise solutions. Having a choice of cloud service providers allows you to avoid being locked in to a deployment landscape that cannot evolve with the needs of your business, for instance, when your company expands to a new geographical area or wants to use new services offered by a different provider. With SAP HANA as a Service, your applications can easily take advantage of other services from SAP Cloud Platform such as prepackaged integration services and ready-to-use business services as well as services from other cloud providers, such as Google TensorFlow (see Figure 1 on the next page). Furthermore, no matter where you deploy SAP HANA, you can use the same familiar management tools and development frameworks. And because a single contract with SAP allows you to use all the services in SAP Cloud Platform including SAP HANA as a Service in all the supported clouds, you can innovate freely and at a faster pace. 3 / 11

5 SAP Brief SAP HANA as a Service runs high-performance, advanced analytics without duplicating data or using multiple systems to process different information, such as business data, text, or spatial data. The multimodel, in-memory-first architecture can process a broad set of advanced analytics together with high-volume transactions on the same system. And the advanced data virtualization layer can access data in real time, whether it is stored in SAP HANA, third-party databases, or Apache Hadoop and Spark data lakes. See Figure 2 for an architectural overview. You can develop intelligent applications with a simplified architecture in days instead of weeks. Users can rely on insights from up-to-date information to guide their next action. You can even embed machine learning into your application to automate tasks, such as choosing where to route the next incoming service calls or dispatching the maintenance crew that is closest to a system outage. In short, SAP HANA as a Service creates a game-changing way to build intelligent and live applications on one copy of data. Innovate with intelligence from live data. 7 SAP Brief SAP HANA as a Service, together with other services in SAP Cloud Platform, helps you develop business-ready innovation by providing a wealth of ready-to-use content. For example, you can use libraries of optimized machine learning algorithms that run inside the database layer to rapidly score data streams from the Internet of Things or create predictive models. You can also embed high-performance, prepackaged financial functions or currency conversion services in your applications to achieve results faster. If you are building an extension to one of your applications running on SAP software on premise or such as SAP SuccessFactors solutions you can take advantage of prepackaged backend integrations, workflows, and digital experience services. And because SAP HANA as a Service is supported across multiple clouds, you can also use the services available in other cloud platforms, such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. Securing your data and the privacy of your employees, customers, and partners is important to your success. SAP HANA as a Service provides comprehensive authentication and authorization capabilities, which complement the security features offered by SAP Cloud Platform. To help you comply with industry regulations such as the European General Data Protection Regulation, SAP HANA as a Service can encrypt data at rest and in motion, mask data dynamically, and anonymize data in real time without changing its meaning or duplicating it. Continued on the next page. 7 / 11
