3 Digital Transformation - Building a Digital Business Digitization This is the first step in the process of digital transformation capturing the data. It s simply converting something non-digital, such as paper documents, into a digital version. In business, however, it is often used as a synonym for automation, moving from manual processes to automated workflows. Business documents are digitized for reasons beyond file storage to simplify work process, minimize risks, control hazards, create efficiencies, improve productivity. Digitalization This is the second step managing the digital records and putting processes around them to add value. Put simply, it means using digital technologies to improve business and processes and create a culture where digital information is the norm; the elimination of paper-based work process and a change to an era of automation Digital Transformation The final step to building a digital business, this is about optimizing and leveraging digitization and digitalization across an industry or enterprise and using it to create entirely new business concepts. At the heart of digital transformation is intelligent data that can be used to automate processes and interoperability.
