2 The landscape is challenging but creates opportunity Budgets in local government are being cut year on year New NHS clinical commissioning organisations are trying to establish themselves whilst under pressure to make savings Acute hospitals are trying to reduce their operating costs due to financial pressures 3 million lives has helped to mobilise the industry, create a new business model and set standards for what a managed service should look like Integrated care pioneer sites are due to be announced in the autumn Norman Lamb, Care and Support Minister: It is essential that health and care services are properly joined up. It will mean people get better care, and will help relieve pressure on every part of the system. This is why we are looking for the best proposals on how to make integrated care a reality The telecare and telehealth industry needs to look at how to deliver to integrated services in an integrated way

ICT provision including desktop, print, server and application support. Data centre operations Transactional Shared Services Finance, HR, Payroll. Document and Information Management including print Telehealth / Telecare and other assistive technology services Process improvement linked to all of the above JOBS CREATION: more than 500 new FTE jobs supported by formal commitments and guarantees on delivery along with clarity on the nature and type of jobs. TRADING AND INVESTMENT: In business development and marketing to sell services supported by business plan, sales and marketing team and guarantees EFFICIENCY SAVINGS: target 20% savings by the end of year 2 plus year on year additional savings of 5%. OTHER FACTORS: Service quality, staffing and Telehealth/Telecare

5 Assisted Living For Independence (ALFI) Service - Assisted Living For Independence (ALFI) is BT s integrated Telehealth and Telecare service, comprising the pro-active remote monitoring of health status for long-term condition sufferers and emergencies for those in need of support for independent living. It offers a full range of clinical and care monitoring, and associated services Solution - ALFI is unique in utilising the latest technologies to provide a fully integrated and fully managed service across the different health, social care and housing organisations from which users will be referred. This will drive the sharing of information across these sectors, supporting the multidisciplinary teams to ensure targeting of services at the right time, enabling efficient use of resources Benefits - ALFI offers real benefit to users by maximising their independence and improving their quality of life, allowing them to live in comfort and confidence in their own homes for longer. It also offers significant benefit to social and health care professionals, enabling care pathways and services to be re-designed, offering real economic savings without compromising health and social care outcomes

Our aim is to support a range of individuals from high risk, complex users to patients with chronic conditions requiring vital sign or movement monitoring needs or simply having the safety of an emergency alarm. 2. We are technology agnostic bringing the best technology to support patients with a wide range of needs in the community. We can deliver to scale, have a broad geographical reach and can deliver and integrate across broadband, the NHS N3 network and 3G. 3. 8 Future focus where is the market going? More organisations will look to commission jointly across health & social care Prime contractors who provide a comprehensive range of services will be more and more appealing Organisations will need to expand their services or partner up to be able to compete Technology enabled services will have an increased focus as cost saving pressures continue: where do we need people and where do we need technology to support the pathway Its an exciting time to be in the industry which is only going to grow
