Mainframe 2.0 CA Aion BRE has adopted key Mainframe 2.0 features that are designed to simplify your use of CA Aion BRE and enable your staff to install, deploy, and maintain it more effectively and quickly. CA Mainframe Software Manager The CA Mainframe Software Manager automates CA Aion BRE installation, deployment, and maintenance and removes SMP/E complexities. The Software Acquisition Service enables you to easily move product installation packages and maintenance from CA Support Online directly to your mainframe environment and prepare them for installation. The Software Installation Service standardizes CA Aion BRE installation, which includes a new, streamlined Electronic Software Delivery (ESD) method that allows CA Aion BRE to be installed using standard utilities. This service also provides standardized SMP/E product installation and maintenance via APARs and PTFs, and simplifies SMP/E processing through an intuitive graphical user interface and an intelligent Installation Wizard. The Software Deployment Service enables you to easily deploy CA Aion BRE in your mainframe environment. CA MSM Consolidated Software Inventory (CSI) updates and infrastructure improvements add flexibility to CA MSM processing of CSIs and enable CA MSM to more effectively utilize CPU and system memory. Installation Verification Program (IVP) and Execution Verification Program (EVP) As part of qualification for inclusion in the set of CA mainframe products released every May, CA Aion BRE has passed stringent tests performed through the IVP and the EVP to find and resolve interoperability problems prior to release. Health Checker The Mainframe 2.0 Health Checker provides CA Aion BRE Health Checks that execute under the IBM Health Checker for z/os. CA Aion BRE Health Checks automatically check the status of VTAM and TCP/IP requests to MAES (Multitasking Aion Execution System) and issue messages if busy responses are at or nearing level that could indicate a problem. Dynamic Rule Manager CA Aion BRE Dynamic Rule Manager now includes a clone facility and new reports. This feature enables you to easily copy domains and rules within CA Aion BRE. Java Connection Architecture (JCA)/Java Resource Adapter (JRA) Support JCA/JRA improves connectivity and performance by adding support for TCP/IP calls between J2EE environments and MAES on the mainframe. DB2 multi-row fetch CA Aion BRE r11 includes performance improvements for fetching rows within DB2. Updated infrastructure CA Aion BRE includes support for the latest operating systems, databases, application servers, compilers, and other standards, including Microsoft Windows Vista, Microsoft Windows 7, Microsoft Visual Studio 2008, and XML support on the mainframe. CA Aion Rule Manager (r11 beta) The beta version of CA Aion Rule Manager, a component of CA Aion BRE r11, includes expanded usability features, the ability to convert a Rule Project to CA Aion BRE, additional Web services deployment options, an updated open source platform, and a smaller footprint.* * Each new feature or functionality included in future releases is subject to change based on a number of factors, including but not limited to internal and external beta testing, development plan changes, and feedback from customers and users. Rule Deployment CA Aion Rule Manager allows rules to be deployed as Web services. They can be deployed on remote servers, in addition to the server on which they were developed. Support for XML I/O A library for XML I/O enables developers to create classes from XML definitions and serialize and de-serialize instances of these classes from XML data. This provides for integration of business rules from any external source in XML format.
