16 ROADSHOW (Case study) In-bus signage project in Hong Kong In this project, nearly 5,000 buses were installed with DCM In-Car digital signage system with certain amount of customization programming to fit customer s unique requirements. Here are the highlighted features. It took roughly one year to deliver the software system in 2-3 phases, including adding in industrial graded 3G modem and SMS technology and some workflow management. - A central control server connecting and controlling nearly 5,000 bus-players. - The specially designed bus-players provide power protection, industrial graded 3G modem, vibration protection, temperature tolerance. - Each bus-player is connected to 4 units of LCD monitor and a number of speakers in upper and lower decks. - Advertising video files and live-feed news can be uploaded to all buses via 3G modem, WiFi and USB storage device. - SMS is used when there is an emergency of notifying the bus-players to change playlist/content while 3G is suddenly unavailable. - Bus-players are able to continue downloading the remaining data after 3G signal interruption is resumed. - 2-ways communications between control server and bus-players. - Transactions log files are auto-generated and store in SQL server database. - Bus-players can collect any fault signals from LCD monitors and speakers via COM port, and feedback to HQ server via 3G.. - All media players are of industrial types, runs on embedded O/S and preferably SSD harddisk, able to self-reboot/resume under power interruption, for highly reliable performance. - Players can be grouped and sub-grouped under multi-levels of tree-diagram (with userdefined group names, e.g. country / city / district / area / building) for flexible fleet management. 17 McDonald s (Case study) Digital signage project in Hong Kong McDonald s has nearly 300 shops in Hong Kong. In this project, hundreds of media players have already been rolled out in half of the shops since 2011, and we are continued to roll out on all other shops in coming year. Here are the highlighted features. - A central control server is monitoring and controlling all media players in McDonald s shops via VPN network. - In each shop, industrial graded embedded media players are installed and connected with large Full HD flat display panels in both portrait and landscape modes. - Both HD e-posters and advertising videos are uploaded and broadcasted following a prescheduled playlist by week/month/year. - A simple workflow is developed so that every players can be easily installed at each shop and connected to main server. - It simply plug & play with minimum technical support from McDonald s internal support team. 18 CTM (Case study) A digital signage project for the Macau Telecommunication company We first implemented our digital signage system at CTM shops many years ago, mainly broadcasting e-poster and video contents on flat screen panels and large LED walls. Later, our web-based DCM queue management system was also implemented and replaced CTM s old queuing system. A certain amount of customization programming was done for CTM s unique requirements and workflow. Here are the highlighted features. - A central control server running SQL database is monitoring and controlling all media players in CTM shops via VPN network. - Multimedia contents are automatically broadcasted following pre-scheduled playlist. - All players are able to be automatically switched on and off following the shop opening hours. - Touch-screen ticketing kiosks are installed in shops, tickets are issued to customers. User-definable service types can be selected by both normal customers and VIP customers. - Queuing system is connected to CTM s CRM system for validating customers status and offer different types of services and promotion. - Live queuing information is displayed on all flat screen panels with latest updated down to seconds duration. - Transaction logs are generated and store in SQL database. - Lots of reports and statistics are generated for auditing and performance analysis. ~End~ Page 18
