2 P a g e 2 Engineering Economy (36425): Pre-requisite: - Courses Description This course covers the following concepts: Cost concepts, Decision making process, Concepts of time value of money, Simple and compound interest, Interest formulas, rate of return, cash flow, project evaluation methods, break even analysis, evaluating a single project, comparison and selection among alternatives and Depreciation calculations. Banking (36326): Pre-requisite: This course aims at identifying the basic concepts of money, the origin of money and banks, the value of money and its role in the economy, the demand for and supply of money, the financial and banking system. Types of banks including objectives, functions and budgets. Types of accounts and checks, types of securities, types of loans and their purposes, credits, and guarantees. Banking services and facilities. Financial and monetary markets, electronic banks, and banking risks. Examples of financial institutions and banking in the world. The banking system in Jordan. Business Application using Mobile phones (36405): Pre-requisite: This course is considered as one of the most important courses in Business information Technology due to the proliferation of the mobile devices and its applications in the Business field. Thus, this course defines the top mobile systems and applications that are used in business. Moreover, it describes the way that these applications work and how to build these applications using specialized programs. Database Management for Business Lab (36251): Pre-requisite: * credit hour 2

3 P a g e 3 This lab teaches students the design and the implementation of a complete database application using a modern relational database system. This lab also covers other topics including: relations, queries, forms and reports where students build full relational architecture for a specific business idea. Advanced Business Applications Programming (36312): Pre-requisite: This course covers multi-tier application architecture concepts and technologies. This course is designed to cover structured and object-oriented programming methodologies for developing business applications. Business application implementation issues will be presented. However, Special emphasis is on development of client/server applications where students build a portal form scratch starting from HTML, going through JavaScript, PHP and complete DB architecture Analysis and Design of Information Systems (36316): Pre-requisite: This course introduces concepts of systems, levels of meaning: data, information and knowledge. It also provides an introduction to Information Systems (IS), managerial levels and types of IS. The course also thoroughly discusses the different approaches of building IS. Including the IS life cycle: analysis, design, and development, methods of collecting data: interviews, questionnaires, observation, feasibility studies and tools for building IS: decision trees, decision tables, flowcharts, and data dictionary, algorithms, and data flow diagrams. Also, project management is tackled with special focus on critical path calculation and deep focus on System modeling Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP) (36336): This course introduces architecture, setup, configuration, operations and management of system that is of "enterprise class". Fundamentals of business process and business process re-engineering concepts will be covered. It will also introduce selection, process mapping, GAP analysis, and implementation of enterprise systems. Enterprise modules and decision analysis tools will be also 3

The course spots the light on how ERP facilitates business processes in specific departments such as sales and marketing, Accounting, production, supply chain. moreover, it has special focus on how to manage the organizational changes when adapting an ERP system within a company. Enterprise Resource Planning Systems Lab (ERP) (36357): Pre-requisite: * credit hour The ERP lab provides students with practical experience, as well as a chance to explore and apply concepts they ve learned in the ERP course. This Lab focuses on giving the students experience on the main modules such as sales and marketing, supply chain, production, material management and purchase. Cloud computing (36415) The course covers several topics in cloud computing, including: introduction to cloud concepts, virtualization technologies, architectures, networking, cloud resource management, service and deployment models of cloud computing, cloud storage systems, and security issues on clouds. Knowledge Management Systems (36339) This course introduces students the concepts of Knowledge management and forces driving knowledge management Systems. Students will learn about the issues in knowledge management, knowledge management systems solutions and foundation, knowledge organizations, knowledge management systems infrastructure, Knowledge management systems technologies, developing knowledge application systems, and types of knowledge application systems. Management Information Systems (36101): Pre-requisite: - 4

5 P a g e 5 This course provides introduction to information systems and components and types and uses of information systems. It also discusses the applications of some information systems and their structures. Other topics are also covered including: Information systems life cycle and phases (investigation, design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation), database management systems, networks and usage of information technology in business management (e.g. financing, accounting and marketing). Decision Support Systems (36334): This course covers the overall decision process and how management support system elements contribute to that process, the evolution of management support systems, the decision making process, modeling, the development of DSS, executive information system and group decision support system. Business Process Modeling (36428): Pre-requisite: This course presents the scientific and practical approach for the study of business system performance using modeling as a basic step in problem solving and decision-making. The course focuses on the queuing theories and its application in business systems modeling. Also this course introduces the skills required to the formulation of planning problems using case studies for real business problems and applying modeling techniques on real business problems. Information Security (36402): Pre-requisite: This course covers Cryptography primitives, Security protocols, Systems security, and Public digital signature. Authentication. security. E-Commerce security and digital watermarking. Network security and applications. 5

6 P a g e 6 Computer Applications Skills for Business (36111): Pre-requisite: - This course introduces computer terminology, hardware, software, operating systems, and information systems relating to the business environment. The main focus of this course is on business applications of software, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentation graphics, business-oriented utilization of the Internet, design of algorithms, algorithm description, and an introduction to 4th generation languages and methodologies. Database Management for Business (36203): 2 credit hours This course provides students with introduction to database management and covers the design and the development of efficient business information systems. Topics such as: data modeling, data integrity, SQL and the implementation of a database application are also covered in this course. Operating Systems (36217): The goal of this course is to provide an introduction to operating system, major components of operating system, organization of computer systems, system structures, process concept, process scheduling, deadlocks, file systems, memory management strategies. Advanced System Analysis and Design (36417): Pre-requisite: This course introduces the concepts, and terminologies of object oriented systems analysis and design. The course focuses on the life cycle of systems development using the object-oriented approach (OO) and the modeling of the development process phases using one of the modeling languages. Special attention is given to the application of the OO approach on real business projects using one of the object- oriented modeling languages in lab sessions. The course also introduces 6

7 P a g e 7 RAD technique. Each student works on a project in a team to produce full documentation for his project integrating the tools, techniques and models of the OO analysis and design. 7
