1 BOB 2017 PROJECT NAME Oracle - The Helicon Building CHALLENGE: Oracle recognized the market was imposing a change to their business offering resulting in de-emphasis on the supply of physical product solutions in favour of software and cloud solutions To provide customers and staff an office and visitor space that clearly reflects Oracle s brand and differentiates the Oracle experience from their competitors A need to offer a world-class Customer Experience and Sales platform A need to attract and retain talent in a competitive employment market PROJECT LOCATION: London TEAM: Sara Wilkins Adam Harris Jessica Wilson Sarah Miles* To provide flexible work spaces to accommodate changing departmental structures and varying occupation levels over time by increasing desk sharing and offering a range of alternative work settings STRATEGY: To create a Journey for visitors and staff with key landmarks along the way Bring in Nature to balance the Digital and Virtual world with people and humanize the space Emphasis on Connectivity of systems, data, people, physical areas, knowledge sharing and collaboration Absolute requirement to complete each phase on time to coordinate with business milestones, and on budget OFFICE: London ID#: 153 No disruption to Oracle s normal London activities whilst phased construction work reduces the useable space on their floors Research and Collation of Oracle occupational data for the Helicon and Definition of the Project Brief Space-planning and development of Agile Working environment concept Integrate Interior Design, Graphic Design and Furniture Design Client representation during the Design and Build Construction phases and Contractor design consultant for Contractor s design finalization role to ensure continuity of design intent and high quality

2 Oracle - The Helicon Building RESULTS/IMPACT: A dynamic new environment which sets the next level of Oracle Workplace Standards A greater connection for visitors and clients to the Oracle brand. Provision of Visitor Lounge with help-yourself refreshments and Break-out area with a variety of seating spaces, all with full Wifi to allow and encourage extended duration of customer s visit and offer touch-down working A much improved workplace environment for Oracle staff which provides a wider range of workplace settings to choose from and with the introduction of all sit-stand desking has improved wellbeing. Collaboration space increased by 59% resulting in employee collaboration increased by 30% A much more efficient office environment than before for services and maintenance Over 10,000 recycled plastic bottles were used to make the acoustic panelling Over 200 tons of waste was removed from site with 97.5% recycled, the remaining 2.5% diverted for energy recovery, resulting in 0% going to landfill Oracle has been very happy with CRTKL s design services, approach to the project and our partnering with the Oracle team and subsequently appointed us for three other Oracle projects

4 CONCEPT To create a Journey for visitors and staff with key landmarks along the way Bring in Nature to balance the Digital and Virtual world with people and humanize the space Emphasis on Connectivity of systems, data, people, physical areas, knowledge sharing and collaboration Angular, non-90 layout of spaces; angled features and carpet design; zig-zag lines of light; light and bright with splashes of strong colour; controlled use of Oracle-red and natural Oak wood Open entrances and long vistas with absence of access-control doors within the Customer facing areas to encourage exploration and sense of partnering Creation of smaller open-plan office spaces with a range of work settings, in addition to desks, offering smallerscale informal and semi-private meeting and working settings allowing users to choose depending on task and mood; all areas with wifi to permit agile working; particular attention to lighting and acoustics in open-plan and cellular spaces to facilitate optimum attention and mood; all desks electric height-adjustable Subdivision of open-plan office floors with colourful, angular cellular spaces and alternative work and lounge settings to facilitate spontaneous collaboration, visual interest and unexpected views between spaces
