Presentation date: Presenter Name: Christine Krämer / Lucas Dann Room name: Room 1 / Foyer 1 Presentation Title: Roll out of IMM to reach material process harmonization at a global manufacturer

Agenda Introduction of BSH Integrated Materials Management challenges Supported functions Co-innovation with thinkstep and Siemens Implementation and roll out Lessons learned Conclusion

About BSH BSH at a glance Robert Bosch GmbH 1967 Founded as a joint venture between Siemens AG and Robert Bosch GmbH 100% factories in Germany, China, France, Greece, India, Peru, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, USA Employees of which R&D specialists Revenue bn. Euros Worldwide No. 2 in market Europe No. 1 in market BSH Hausgeräte GmbH Founded in 1967

About BSH Product Portfolio

About BSH Our Brands BSH Home Appliances Group is a Trademark Licensee of Siemens AG for the brand Siemens and of Robert Bosch GmbH for the brand Bosch.

Integrated Materials Management: the challenges Innovation in the material field requires communication between various functional experts in the company Different functions, units and regions had different material processes, procedures and software Limited transparency / information exchange on materials Quality issues (e.g. engineers assign a material without consulting material experts or simulation results based on bad material data) Expensive internal and external laboratory tests were repeated and not leveraged well Purchasing had no valid view on technical material aspects to support material and supplier steering for cost and security Understanding if the material is compliant with regulatory requirements like food or drink water approval

IMM: Business Functions supported Integrated material management supports material processes and procedures across 3 different functions at B/S/H to enable strategic material steering: Development: engineers have actual information on released and preferred materials for their product area to underpin their material decisions Simulation: simulation specialists have consistent and detailed physical properties on materials used in products to improve the quality of their simulation Materials: material experts have a platform to exchange material data and manage material properties and approval processes Purchasing: purchasing managers strategically steer material and supplier selection with transparency into materials aspects and properties Materials management use cases are addressed using one common materials information platform with role dependent views of raw materials and their properties.

Search Window Search within BSH material catalog according to customized search attributes

Results Window Materials matching the search criteria can be narrowed down further applying the soft matching attributes

Material properties for CAE Simulation

Co-Innovation with thinkstep and Siemens How is the collaboration working? Governance: BSH follows IMM standard, where gaps are realized, BSH, thinkstep and Siemens agree on an enhancement which in best case can lead to a enhancement of the core product no unnecessary customizations Communication between BSH project team and IMM Product Management worked seamless

Roll Out Process First focus on a limited number of use cases: define, realize, roll out globally Enable feedback for further improvements Accompanied by process harmonization and integration in release and development processes Step by step approach in terms of additional material groups Ensuring data are complete and continuously actualized also after project end

Feedback from the Business Having all, latest and complete material information in one central place, fully integrated in Teamcenter, is highly appreciated by colleagues from development and purchasing IMM closes the gap between released material used in production and the need to steer material decisions during development phase for new products Users developed many additional requirements such as Integration in NX, interface to SAP and many more

Lessons Learned Practical questions which had to be solved were related to definition of material attributes not so much how the property is entered and managed, but how this relates to material search and selection by the users A deep and continuous interaction with the users was important for acceptance First concept with TC attributes instead of IMM properties had to be adjusted due to performance, usability and integration issues Be close to the users and consider carefully what they really need Never just realize what users ask you to do, but only what they really need understanding their work and processes is essential for that

IMM: Business Benefits Enabling engineers to validate each material decision based on reliable data Engineers can consider potentially better alternatives, also with respect to compliance Decisions based on simulation have a higher quality if the material data is reliable Management of raw material tests and test results Information exchange between material experts of all different units Avoidance of duplicate work and unnecessary expenses Better steering of material and supplier selection leads to lower cost and higher supply security and technical feasibility More transparency: one globally available place for all reliable material data Standardization of material processes and procedures supported across functions Clarity regarding released and tested raw materials per product area and application environment

Thank you for your attention! Teamcenter Integrated Material Management is the platform to standardize raw material processes across the enterprise and across business functions, to enable steering, transparency and information exchange for all technical material aspects.
