The collaboration of Escher Group and Fujitsu Services has created a solid foundation for success at Post Office Limited. Today, our companies are working together to take postal counter automation to a whole new level. Escher s software set the standard when it was first deployed 10 years ago, and the introduction of Enterprise Applications demonstrates the company s dedication to developing new solutions to meet customers evolving needs. With an eye to the future, Escher and Fujitsu remain committed to building a better Post Office.

1 Escher Group s Enterprise Applications create a foundation for developing and deploying customer-aware, enterprise-level applications with tools for enhanced data exchange, analysis, and reporting. They comprise a range of products that can be used for compiling business intelligence based on customer- and product-specific transaction data. These products can also be leveraged to provide enhanced functionality for existing Essential applications. Postal networks conduct many thousands if not millions of transactions each day. Escher s Enterprise products allow postal administrators to track, process, and Cost Effective Low Risk Open Platform analyze these counter activities, converting the existing data into a powerful source of critical business information. In turn, this information serves as the basis for strategic enterprise management and enables postal organizations to define, manage, and control the key value drivers of the business. <SOAP> XML

2 Enterprise Applications powered by WebRiposte Sales Optimization Many postal organizations have an untapped source of additional revenue within their current counter environment. With the right tools and incentives, counter clerks can be motivated to sell more products and higher-value services. Escher Group s Enterprise Applications allow postal organizations to maximize their sales by prompting counter staff to highlight the benefits of value-added services. These applications can also increase customer satisfaction by enabling rate shopping. Retail Up-Sell and Cross-Sell Opportunities Boost revenues by making it easy and rewarding for staff to up-sell and cross-sell services The Enterprise Sales Optimizer can be combined with a variety of Desktop applications to encourage the promotion of higher-value services leading to improved sales campaigns and increased revenue opportunities. Once a customer has selected a primary service, the Desktop displays the additional services available. Counter staff can then use the Help functionality to display a list of benefits for each service, which helps them explain the value of those services to customers. When a primary service is selected, the Desktop automatically displays related cross-sell opportunities and product benefits. For example, if a customer submits a Form E111, the clerk will be prompted to offer other travel services.

3 Enterprise Applications encompass the following products: Staff Incentive Programs Motivate thousands of geographically-dispersed employees to work toward common goals Staff incentive programs are an effective way to increase the value of counter transactions and boost employee morale. With the Enterprise Sales Optimizer, customer-facing staff can earn points for selling valuable services. The Desktop buttons can display stars or other icons for the higher-margin transactions that postal administrators want to promote, encouraging counter staff to take advantage of these point-earning opportunities. Internal Web sites can further engage employees by allowing them to view rewards, redeem points, access sales tips, and more. The Desktop displays point values and benefits for select transactions, automatically prompting counter clerks to sell higher-value services and add-ons. Enterprise Sales Optimizer Provides up-sell/cross-sell functionality and supports staff incentives in order to maximize every sales opportunity. Enterprise Analytics Engine Enables postal organizations to view real-time transactions and analyze current data in a rapidly changing environment. Enterprise Shadow Correspondence Server Manages terabytes of current and historical data and provides an online archive of raw transaction data. A more efficient, reliable, and cost-effective alternative to backup tapes. Enterprise Workflow Manager Provides enhanced application integration capabilities, facilitating the movement of data from the WebRiposte environment to other software packages and legacy systems. Enterprise Community Profile Manager Links individual transactions to a specific customer, counter clerk, and postal outlet, enabling administrators to track buying trends and perform customized analyses of transaction data. Enterprise Report Server Allows organizations to leverage third-party tools for reporting and performing queries on data stored in the WebRiposte Correspondence Server. Enterprise Content Manager Enables post offices to deliver computer-based training, in-flight training, browser-based Help, and internal and external Web sites directly to workstations using HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) and CIFS (Common Internet File System). Enterprise Rate Shopping Allows clerks to help customers evaluate prices and features for a variety of service packages and options, and extends these applications beyond the post office counter environment. Enterprise Mails Supports a range of postage assessment and tracking activities, and extends the Mails application beyond the postal organization. Enterprise Money Orders and Transfers Supports the sale and redemption of paper-based and electronic money orders for both national and international use. Through the use of staff cards, sales tools, and Web sites, postal administrations can offer incentive programs to improve counter-staff performance and increase revenues.

4 Enterprise Applications powered by WebRiposte Sales Optimization (continued) Rate Shopping Increase customer satisfaction and loyalty by offering the services customers need with the choices they want Building on Escher s successful Mails application, Enterprise Rate Shopping allows applications to display multiple service packages and additional options, and incorporates up-sell/cross-sell business rules. Rate Shopping enables counter staff to help customers compare prices and features for a collection of services, without having to refer to hard-copy service and rate description books. Furthermore, the product s rulesbased engine ensures that services and prices are always correct, even with complex business logic. It supports application deployment at the counter as well as online, and its Internet extensions enable thousands of users to access the post office Web site at any given time. Enterprise Rate Shopping can be used for any number of business applications. Customers can compare rates for a variety of postal and non-postal services. Once customers have selected a primary service, they can also evaluate the prices and benefits of various value-added services, such as SMS (Short Message Service) notification of fund transfers.

5 Business Intelligence Every day, millions of transactions are conducted throughout the postal counters network, resulting in a wealth of information that is just waiting to be harnessed. Enterprise Applications allow postal authorities to quantify and analyze this information to better know their customers and their business. Business Analytics Sound business decisions require real-time access to mission-critical data With the Enterprise Analytics Engine, postal administrators can track customer buying trends, analyze staff and branch performance, and perform customized business analyses of any transaction data throughout the post office network. This enables them to gain a deeper understanding of how these critical factors impact their business, and allows them to capitalize on that information to achieve future growth. Executives can sort and view real-time data in graphical formats, which helps them to make better-informed decisions. When implemented as part of a staff incentive solution, the Analytics Engine can help postal administrators to determine the optimal number of reward points for each transaction. Furthermore, detailed analyses of historical data can be conducted quickly and easily via the Enterprise Shadow Correspondence Server. Community Management Improve customer service with targeted offerings for individuals and groups The Enterprise Community Profile Manager in conjunction with Post Services Cards enables postal administrations to provide personalized counter service, speed transaction times, track customer buying trends, and much more. The Post Services Card links each transaction with a specific individual, and the Community Profile Manager saves a record of those transactions to the customer s profile. This allows postal customers to build a credit history and helps authorities to identify and prevent money-laundering activities. The Post Services Card can also be used as part of an incentive-based customer loyalty program. This encourages customers to present their card at every transaction, and enables the postal service to capture a complete record of all retail activities for each customer. Post Services Cards can be customized for any subset of postal customers or partners to better address their needs and interests. Counter activities can now be linked to specific customers, so transactions are no longer anonymous.

6 Enterprise Applications powered by WebRiposte Channels to New Markets Enterprise Applications help postal authorities make the most of information and opportunities that exist within their organization. They also go one step further by extending postal and third-party applications beyond the counter. The advanced integration capabilities of Enterprise Applications enable postal authorities to quickly and easily implement new services on behalf of the government and other partners. Likewise, those capabilities allow third parties to securely retrieve business information stored within the post office s system. Postal customers can also access and input data via multiple channels, which lets them initiate a transaction from their home, office, or a kiosk and complete the transaction at any postal counter. Third-Party Integration Quickly and easily implement third-party applications and share business data with partners Based on industry standards such as XML (extensible Markup Language), Enterprise Workflow Manager provides enhanced application integration. It facilitates the movement of data between the WebRiposte environment and the post office s other software packages and legacy systems, such as SAP or JD Edwards. In addition, its ability to transform data into industry-standard formats allows for easy integration with third-party organizations, including vendors and business partners. These third parties can also access real-time transaction data directly from WebRiposte via a business-to-business extranet or secure Web site. Enterprise Workflow Manager simplifies the development process and provides a flexible, standards-based approach to EAI (Enterprise Application Integration). With increased integration capabilities, customers can now conduct a variety of government and third-party transactions at the postal counter, from applying for travel insurance to collecting benefit payments to ordering prescription refills. Postal administrators, utility companies, and other third-party agencies can confirm customers bill payments in real time by viewing the transaction details via a Web site.

7 Beyond the Counter Flexible, open standards enable Enterprise Applications to support multi-channel access With Enterprise Applications, extending post office services beyond the counter environment has never been easier. New user interface designs and a wealth of technical improvements enable post office applications to be deployed onto additional devices, such as mobile phones, PDAs, and kiosks. And by leveraging the same data and business logic used by the postal organization, customers can access a rate calculator, complete shipping forms online, and much more. They can initiate a transaction from their home, office, or a kiosk and complete the transaction at any postal counter. This eliminates much of the paperwork and reduces the amount of time customers have to spend at the post office. Enterprise Applications are helping customers to access the postal information and services they need anytime, and anywhere. Postal organizations can leverage existing business information for use in multimedia displays, handhelds, tablet PCs, kiosks, and Web sites.
