North Brisbane Planning Studies The employment and population growth in South East Queensland is expected to be one of the most rapid growing of all states. As the existing road network in North Brisbane is already highly saturated and a range of infrastructure improvements have been planned for it, the challenge lies in understanding the effects of these planned improvements and determining the correct levels of transport provision. Metis was responsible for the transport modelling activities coordination of planning studies in North Brisbane, including Gympie Road, Stafford Road, Sandgate Road, North West Brisbane Transport Corridor etc. In addition, Metis carried out technical review of the models being developed for these studies, and provided technical advice and support to the Project Teams. Townsville Strategic Transport Model 2011 & Townsville City Council Metis was commissioned by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Townsville City Council to assist with the Townsville Strategic Transport Model update. Tasks involved preparation of a project plan and scoping report, project management and update the TSTM to base year 2011 using Emme software. The project was successfully completed in October The Council is currently using the updated model to inform the Townsville Priority Infrastructure Plan (PIP). Round Mountain Development Assessment Townsville City Council Metis was engaged by the Townsville City Council to evaluate various land use scenarios and highway options proposed for the proposed Round Mountain development using the Townsville Thuringowa Traffic Model. We were also responsible for training Townville City Council officers in the use of the model and Emme software. Route Planning Review Suite of Projects Metis was engaged to assist the TMR (Metropolitan Region) to undertake suite of route planning review projects. We have successfully completed the review and provided advice on: Intersection capacity review and design of capacity improvements (e.g. Warwick Road, Brisbane Road, Warrego Highway Connection Road) Review of current and proposed intersection spacing (e.g. Warwick Road, Brisbane Road, Warrego Highway Connection Road) Review of existing access frequency and potential modifications (e.g. Warwick Road, Brisbane Road, Warrego Highway Connection Road)

5 Samford Road/Wardell Street Intersection Upgrade Study The Samford Road/Wardell Street intersection was ranked fifth worst intersection in the 2010 RACQ Red Spot Survey. TMR has commissioned a Samford Road/Wardell Street Intersection Upgrade Study to investigate the intersection and develop concept level options to provide a short to medium term improvement in operation. Metis was tasked to undertake technical review of the Enoggera Area SATURN Model developed for the Samford Road/Wardell Street Intersection Upgrade Study. Metis also provided technical advice and support to the Project Team. Beenleigh Town Centre Study Logan City Council Beenleigh has been identified as a Principal Activity Centre (PAC) in the South East Queensland Regional Plan The Beenleigh PAC is expected to serve catchments of regional significance and accommodate key concentrations of employment and provide for in centre residential uses. Stage 1 of the project includes development of a base year traffic model using SATURN software and identifying existing traffic conditions. Metis successfully completed Stage 1 in January We are currently working on Stage 2 of the project to assess future conditions of the local road network, and to identify any necessary improvements. It is envisaged that the findings of this study will form part of the final Beenleigh Master Plan. TMR SATURN Modelling Guidelines Metis has prepared a SATURN Modelling Guidelines for TMR. The purpose of the Guidelines is to promote a consistent and sound approach to the development and update process of SATURN models built for TMR, and to ensure consistency in results and reporting. Some of the guidelines may also be applicable to traffic modelling activities that are undertaken using other software packages such as Aimsun, Dynameq, etc. The Guidelines will serve a useful resource for the development and maintenance of SATURN models in Queensland. LCC Intersection Upgrade Program 2012 Logan City Council The Intersection Upgrade Program is part of Logan City Council's front end project planning to identify major road intersection projects which have a current or future deficiency in their level of service, degree of saturation or operating capacity. Metis has successfully completed a detailed analysis for 16 intersections using SIDRA software to identify deficiencies for the years 2012, 2019 and The SIDRA analysis also identified some geometric changes that may require further consideration to cater for future traffic demands.

6 London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games: Freight Advice Programme Transport for London Our consultant project managed the team that was responsible for the TfL Freight Advice Progamme. We provided support to freight and logistics businesses to cope with changes planned on London s road network during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The scope of works involved working with the management of over 400 medium and small sized businesses on alternative operation plans to ensure the continuity of their businesses during the Games period. We were responsible for the planning and rolling out of advisory documentation and guidance to businesses, their customers and suppliers. We produced documentation in seven languages and were responsible for the dissemination of paper copies and through the digital media. We worked with market tenants and their customers at London s wholesale markets to plan their freight and logistics operations to minimise disruptions caused by road closures. Changes that were introduced included the extension of market operating hours and rearranging delivery and collection times at the markets outside the peak impact periods. As part of this commission, we supported Bestway, the largest independent wholesale cash & carry operator in the UK, in developing their inhouse strategy to reduce the need for logistics, retime planned deliveries and collections and on delivery vehicle rerouting for their 12 stores in London. We seconded a team of two over a one month period to work at Bestway s offices. London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games: Supporting and Working with Minority Communities Transport for London We supported over 100 Black and Minority Enterprise businesses on their freight and logistics plans. Our multi lingual team provided advice on likely impacts and actions to help them cope with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
