W3C - Semantic Web and ISO Evolution: Web 1.0 Pages and documents Web 2.0 Social networking Web 3.0 Semantic Web layer cake Why ontologies? The real world is complex and changing. You need a solution that can cope with that complexity and adapt with the changes. That's what ontology does for you

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) - Mandate The SIG shall ensure that the industry gets access to reference data of very high quality by contributing to: Making recommendation for further enhancement of reference data within its domain Quality assurance and formal approval of all changes and enhancement of the RDL within its domain according to ISO procedures, ISO Parts and PCA s rules and procedures Developing and maintaining ISO Establishing good dialogue arenas with all interested parties in the industry, in research and educational institutions and the authorities, and to clearly communicate the industry s position on key issues in this field (A few special SIG s with mandates beyond this.)

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Active Special Interest Groups: Modeling, Methods, and Technology In co-operation with iring Drilling and Completion In co-operation with EPIM Reporting Hub and IOHN Production and Reservoir In co-operation with EPIM Reporting Hub and IOHN Operation and Maintenance Joint SIG with OpenO&M / MIMOSA Instrument and Control (>>> & Equipment & Valves) In co-operation with iring (& FIATECH) Geometry (2D & 3D) In co-operation with FIATECH and iring IT Architecture Joint SIG with OpenO&M / MIMOSA TAB (Technical Advisory Board) technical coordination of SIG activities More information:

SIGs - Issues and Conclusions Large backlog of reference data needing SIG review. Limited resources available Originally SIGs were created for reference data review and approval on dictionary level The MMT, Geometry and IT Architecture SIGs have been added later and are different in nature. Organizing this activities is a challenge Collaboration with Fiatech and OpenO&M is working well Collaboration with Energistics will be strengthen

Co-operation with FIATECH and OpenO&M Conferences and meetings FIATECH participate in and help marketing PCA Forums and Member Meetings PCA participate in and help marketing the FIATECH Technology Conference, the Member Meeting Joint PCA and OpenO&M/MIMOSA Forum and Member meeting in Houston in February/March PCA, FIATECH and OpenO&M/MIMOSA co-ordinate participation in Digital Plant and Spar Europe

Co-operation with FIATECH and OpenO&M SIGs FIATECH supports the PCA SIGs PCA and OpenO&M/MIMOSA have two joint SIGs Operation and Maintenance IT Architecture Projects FIATECH and PCA co-operate in JORD and iring OpenO&M/MIMOSA and PCA cooperate in the NWRP pilot

Co-operation with Energistics Production and Drilling SIGs Chairs of these two PCA SIGs shall be members of the Energistics PRODML and WITSML SIGs Align the PCA RDL with PRODML and WITSML within production and drilling Participate in the Standards Leadership Council together E&P Ontology
