We have one goal: to ensure the NHS makes the right property choices that enable excellent patient care. Our portfolio is one of the largest in the UK, comprising more than 3,000 properties with 7,000 tenants across England. At a total value of more than 3bn, this represents about 10% of the total NHS estate. Our properties range from listed buildings through to award-winning, state-of-the-art integrated health campuses. Main purpose / scope of the role The BI & Analytics team exists to build best practice in data management, reporting, and analytics to ensure NHS PS staff have access to trusted data and insights to make better decisions faster and with greater confidence. In its essence, the purpose of this role is to enable a data- and insight-driven culture across NHS PS, maximising the company s data & analytics value chain. This is how data collection and reporting are transformed into insights and recommendations through analysis and, how these insights and recommendations are used by decision makers to make effective, informed decisions. The BI & Analytics Lead will be a hands-on role. As well as oversight of the BI and reporting specialist team and associated team management duties, this role will work with the Business

2 Relationship Managers and other internal stakeholders to understand the business demand, strategy and key drivers to define BI requirements and deliver BI solutions which meet those requirements. These solutions will involve identifying the key outcomes and determine the most suitable data sources, applying data transformations data modelling, and then design intuitive and effective reports and dashboards. To be successful, this role will require excellent data technical skills with proficiency in writing complex SQL, T-SQL, and Dax scripts. It is also essential that the BI and Reporting Specialists understands how data can deliver business value and impact. Therefore this role will need to build an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables them to translate critical business issues into insight and analytics requirements and deliverables. A large part of this role is delivering insights to the senior stakeholders and supporting them in selecting the optimal route to improve performance and deliver our corporate strategy. A lot can be at stake from the outputs of the BI & Reporting Specialist. The wrong decision can be made if reports and analysis are not put together in the correct way. Key Responsibilities MI/KPI report design and development Own the roadmap and manage the rollout of BI to the business, ensuring this is embedded in the wider technology strategy and the measurement of the ROI of analytic developments is possible. Develop and deliver data visualisation and data analysis solutions which meet business requirements and are aligned to functional and corporate priorities. Ensure all work is delivered in line with the agreed TS demand management and project management standards and processes. Articulate and document solution options which meet both functional and non-functional requirements Document all report solutions to the agreed standard and ensure they are compliant with GDPR legislation. As required provide business relevant business, data and analytics knowledge in support of new data projects and changes as they are delivered by the wider technology organisation Support the maintenance of the operational reporting layers across the group from a BI technical point of view, ensuring reports are meeting business requirements and support real or near real-time delivery of operational data to operational teams. Ensure the delivery of the monthly corporate and functional dashboard KPIs for the Exec and the allocated functional areas Ensure the strategy for data refresh alerts, notifications, and team groupings are appropriate to facilitate the development of a data culture. Data Analysis and insights Provide actionable commercial insights (increased profit/decreased cost/reduced Value at Risk) around key business concerns or opportunities.

3 Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in data sets. Translate business issues in hypotheses, identify the most appropriate modelling techniques, set up experiments to test hypotheses empirically, and translate findings in actionable insights. Apply storytelling techniques and approaches to tailor and communicate operational and strategic insights to stakeholders Support data quality improvement initiatives by identifying anomalies in source data and including DQIs in relevant dashboards and reports, and report these to the Data Governance team. Keep abreast of and apply new analytics capabilities and approaches, particularly NHS PS strategic tools such as PowerBI capabilities, cutting-edge technologies, and best practices in analytics. BI Adoption and end-user support Drive the design and delivery of BI standards for the company. Form a collaborative partnership with architects, and other technology teams to take a holistic view of our data and BI strategy Develop governance and delivery frameworks for consistent delivery of BI and analysis through the company and during project delivery, where appropriate Train users, including executives, to use the BI tools and get maximum value from them Support the rollout of BI to the business, ensuring this is embedded in the wider technology strategy and the measurement of the ROI of analytic developments is possible. Team management and resource planning Oversight and control of the BI Helpdesk by pro-actively managing incoming requests, assigning work, and responding to internal client requests ensuring the wider BI team deliver solutions within the agreed SLAs. Mentor the BI team and relevant centre of excellence roles around the business on best practice data preparation, data visualisation, data analysis, and insight generation. Set objectives for the team, undertake regular performance reviews, and fulfil line management duties as per HR policies and guidance. Person Specification

4 Essential Desirable Qualifications Knowledge A degree in a business or IT related subject area such as Business Management, Economics, Information Management, Computer Science or similar Plus evidence of continuous professional development within data & analytics domain Expert knowledge of Excel Power Query/Pivot, and PowerBI applications Excellent understanding of data modelling and database principles Expert knowledge of complex T- SQL, SQL, and DAX Degree in maths or statistics Microsoft SQL certification Property data domain knowledge Finance data domain knowledge Facilities Management data domain knowledge ETL processes Experience Skills Significant experience within business intelligence and/or a reporting role with a proven experience delivering analyses to senior stakeholders. Significant experience working with PowerBI Significant experience of using SQL, DAX, T-SQL Significant experience of using Excel Power Query and Power Pivot Proven experience of managing a team Highly self-organised Excellent time management Excellent communication skills Experience of using Microsoft SSAS Experience in undertaking end-to-end ETL processes
