5 Assistant Financial Controller role is a single point of contact Post-outsourcing Microsoft subsidiary controllers are freed up to play a more strategic role and add value to the business, rather than focusing on accounting transactions. The Assistant Financial Controller role within Accenture acts as an Accounting Manager ensuring that the books are closed effectively and the right controls are in place.

8 Successful Outsourcing requires a thorough change management program Three key programs helped a great deal with success:- The Controller Connections meetings two-day face to face meetings for subsidiary controllers A structured and thorough global communication approach that focuses on Senior Leadership alignment and regular updates in communication forums. A detailed 6-month, transition-specific subsidiary communication plan used to educate a wide audience. Execution was the responsibility of local leadership which was critical to bring the messaging and change close to home.

11 Summary: Achievements to date The design and implementation of standardized processes across 92 countries An improved control environment increased coverage of SOX compliance, and external auditors have been able to increase their scope without increasing costs. Established Procurement Buy-Desk to help enforce standard policies and the ability to drive global category sourcing Predictability of operational costs and a 35% run-rate reduction Additional savings through process improvements: enabled early payment discount savings of >$10m in the last financial year, and first time pass on accounts payable has increased 20%.
