1 imax Empowers Sonatel with Real-time Credit Control & Management Summary Sonatel collaborated with Panamax to boost their business through the streamlined and systematic prepaid credit control management that interacted with its existing Session Border Controller (SBC) in a private network. Panamax's Network Switching Subsystem imax successfully managed Prepaid Carriers credit balance and generated timely, real-time notifications and alerts.

2 Introduction Sonatel, part of Orange Group, is one of the leading operators in Senegal. The company offers global telecommunications solutions for fixed line, mobile, internet service, television and mobile money. Sonatel was looking for an all-inclusive real-time prepaid credit control that could be easily integrated in the existing network infrastructure of Sonatel. imax added value to Sonatel's telecommunication business by introducing prepaid account management module that managed the credit balance of carriers, generated periodic invoices and sent credit notification alerts over SMS and

3 The Challenges Sonatel wanted easy and fast implementation of imax into its infrastructure with minimal addition of servers or other hardware. Handling of prepaid accounting for Sonatel's vast wholesale business. High Availability (HA) environment had to be deployed in the distance of 16 kilometres for seamless call transmission in cases of downtime. imax configuration needed to be compatible with the existing SBC of Sonatel as it was required to be functional in an integrated environment. 03

4 The Solution imax is a Class IV soft switch with prepaid credit management, enhanced packet processing and high loads handling capabilities. imax was well integrated in the existing network infrastructure of Sonatel with minimal operation and support costs. High Availability Real-time Invoicing Panamax fulfilled the requirement of HA by deploying imax Active at Site A and imax Standby at Site B. In case of downtime at any site, necessary information on the current call state was transferred to newly active node who processed the call further. There was zero call loss during the transmission or switchover. Real-time billing and reporting module of imax was integrated at Sonatel for real-time Call Detail Record (CDR) generation, invoicing and AAA-based billing. imax also allowed for setting of 'Bridge Limit' for prepaid carriers. Low OPEX Prepaid Credit Minimal infrastructure of imax made sure that the overall efficiency of Sonatel's business is enhanced at reduced operational costs. Real-time credit control class IV switch was functional in existing network infrastructure of Sonatel. imax's intelligent algorithm was setup to manage credits of prepaid accounts by allocating credit at the time of call admission and periodically checking for the credit overrun. If credit value reached near zero, the active calls were terminated by imax to avoid negative credit. 04

5 The Results Centralized credit control operations management by imax added enhanced value to Sonatel's business. Periodic real-time notifications and credit alerts saved Sonatel's clients from experiencing last-minute bill shocks. Intelligent network platform of imax perfectly blended with the huge network of Sonatel, thereby empowering it with added functionalities and services. 05
