2 Overview By developing inside and outside the company, business processes integrate people, departments and stakeo lders. Therefore, there is the need to support such processes by coordinating resources, managing the progress of processes and integrating the different departments making information sharing smooth and homogeneous. In this context, RuleDesigner is an innovative web-based platform addressing the management of the most important business processes PLM, CRM and Document Management with an integrated and homogeneous logic. RuleDesigner is the result of an approach aimed at supporting all the activities that involve the collaboration of many people both inside and outside the company in an integrated, homogeneous and comprehensive way. As a modular solution, RuleDesigner tools can be used by themselves or in an interconnected combination to serve the needs of numerous corporate functions including-marketing, Job Order and Project Management, Product Data Management, Product Structure Management, Customer and Partner Relationship Management as well as Spare-parts management. 7 Product Configuration RuleDesigner allows user to configure and manage product-related information generating CAD geometries and technical documentation. Due to the rulebased logic, different product configurations can be generated releasing 3D CAD assemblies, 2D drawings, BOMs, configurable BOMs, technical scheme and technical documentation. Application Sales Offer Configuration RuleDesigner supports users in configuring sales offers by generating quotations and technical documentation in real time. The configuration process generates quotations by inheriting customer and product related information from the portal and, once the quotation has been generated and saved, it will store the resulting documents in the proper repository. Whenever an offer has been accepted, new job orders can start automatically with notifications to the resources involved. Technical Document Generation RuleDesigner provides support in creating and disseminating technical handbooks and complex documents through an automatic rule-based composer. RuleDesigner accelerates and optimizes document creation since the planning phases allowing users to use existing contents to create documents such as technical handbooks, set up and user guides. Furthermore, document creation functionalities can be even integrated with document management tools, getting the higher added-value from the connection of the document created to product forms, project phases, companies panels or to PDM part numbers. By using these tools in the proper way, it is possible to search for a document across the platform, transversally. Product Structure The product form is a repository, structured into modules or sub-products, in which users can store and connect cross-sectional information including documents, customers, tickets and PDM part numbers. The product is the fundamental entity of the PLM process and is one of the gateways to the world of relationships. Any product sold to a customer has a particular static configuration. By liking the product serial number to the customer, it is possible to track information and get several benefits. As a matter of fact, in the after-sales framework, it enables to give a customized access on the basis of the product purchased with timely and useful information for each customer. Technical documents, manuals, certifications, technical files related to the product are immediately available to the client for consultation. Configuration and Automation RuleDesigner Configurator is a cross-sectional tool aimed at automating operations along corporate processes. It can be applied in the technical area to automate the CAD design phase generating assemblies, drawings, BOMs, processing cycles, technical documents and xml/ html contents. Moreover, it can be used in the sales area for configuring products variants and automatically getting real time quotations or descriptive offers. Finally, in the process automation area Rule- Designer Configurator allows to enter automatisms on the basis of rules that activates events or procedures.
