24 Developing an offshore regulatory framework for Ireland Together with the Commission for Energy Regulation, DNV GL developed a Petroleum Safety Framework for the country s growing upstream industry. The ALARP risk management principle and the UK s safety case approval system were incorporated, resulting in one of the most advanced regulatory frameworks in the world. 24

25 Decommissioning assets in the Brent Field, North Sea The decommissioning of four complex platforms in the North Sea s Brent Field poses a number of technical challenges and environmental and societal considerations. Our team of specialists in underwater noise, drill-cuttings and marine toxicology is helping to provide sustainable options for the disposal of these assets. 25

26 Challenging gas fields: The Wheatstone megaproject The Wheatstone project s unique, size, design and demanding location in Australia meant that our customer needed access to a specific range of DNV GL s services. Our experts tackled the company s complex engineering challenges headon, in addition to verifying the fabrication and installation of the infrastructure, and applying our offshore standards across the design and construction phases. 26

27 Troll A: The tallest structure ever moved by man DNV GL provided marine warranty services to the tallest structure ever moved by mankind: the 472-metre high, 656,000-ton Troll A platform in the North Sea. Our mariners and technical advisors supported the customer throughout the design, construction and implementation phases of the new platform, evaluating the operational risks, inspecting the design, plans and progress, and overseeing load-out, deck-mating, tow-out and installation. 27
