1 Technical Specification Sheet Document No February 28, 2015 Facility Prime Description Facility Prime TM is a flexible building management interface app for ipad that provides quick, mobile interaction with the APOGEE Building Automation System (BAS). Through customized screens, Facility Prime allows view-only or view-and-command access to environmental conditions and HVAC control systems. Facility Prime goes beyond accessing data by providing two-way interaction between users and the BAS for a variety of purposes. Facility Prime provides BAS data to the right people at the right place and time. In many cases, users are not controls experts so the intuitive nature of the ipad makes an ideal interface. For example, professionals such as healthcare or laboratory staff can leverage the BAS in their facilities to obtain environmental data that can impact their patients or projects. As consumers of data, people are looking for information faster and in more accessible forms. This can be accomplished with mobile devices connected via Wi-Fi or wall-mounted tablets placed at appropriate locations throughout a facility. Facility Prime can be customized to exact user needs with the Editor version, which provides the ability to create custom views and graphics. Siemens Industry, Inc. Page 1 of 6

2 Facility Prime as a Local Display Description Although Facility Prime TM is an ipad app, with the addition of a mounting frame, it can be implemented as a customized, local interface for a variety of monitoring and commanding purposes. Features Connects over Wi-Fi. Custom-made graphics provide for a wide range of local monitoring and commanding needs. With the addition of third-party mounting hardware, an ipad with Facility Prime can be used securely in wall-mounted applications. Makes an ideal touch-pad interface for use by nonfacilities personnel. Facility Prime Editor (sold as a separate app) comes with all the features of Facility Prime, plus the ability to create and manage graphics. Figure 1. Conference Room Applications In addition to comfort control, static information from the ipad, such as maps of the building, or dynamic information from other sources across the Wi-Fi can be embedded into the screens through the use of buttons. Sample Applications Customized screens can be created in Facility Prime for a wide range of applications, enabling users who do not have building automation system knowledge or special access to control their environments. For example: Occupants or staff in conference rooms can control the environment in the space. Workers in industrial environments can monitor processes. Laboratory personnel can monitor laboratory environments. Healthcare staff can monitor and control operating room conditions. Occupants in hospitality meeting rooms and executive conference rooms are able to directly control the space locally through a wall-mounted ipad with Facility Prime. Figure 2. Laboratory Environment Applications Room Characteristics In critical environments where workers depend on the environmental conditions of their workspace both to ensure personal safety and for the quality of their work, wall-mounted displays are useful tools for providing real-time system information about the environment technicians are about to enter The bi-directional capability of Facility Prime enables users to change states and modes for the critical environment space, leading to potential energy savings. Facility Prime User Account Authentication For critical environments requiring user authorization and tracking in a System Activity Log at the operator workstation, Facility Prime can ensure that proper access credentials are authenticated with an APOGEE field panel before allowing users to command points and equipment. 4 Facility Prime as a Mobile BAS Interface Description The Facility Prime TM application is customizable to meet the interface needs for a variety of users. Users do not need to be facilities experts to use the intuitive application. Features Connects over Wi-Fi or uses cellular data and VPN to access the BAS Ethernet network. Custom-made graphics provide for a wide range of local monitoring and commanding needs. The Scan function reads Quick Response (QR) barcodes that are linked to building graphics, a Siemens patent-pending technology. Templates of application-specific devices can be created once and then used for multiple instances of controllers. The Report function captures current information shown on the Graphics and Charts tabs and can save the image as a PDF file and/or attach it to an message. Facility Prime Editor (sold as a separate app) comes with all the features of Facility Prime plus provides the ability to create and manage graphics. Figure 6: Maintenance Staff Applications Sample Applications Customized screens can be created in Facility Prime for maintenance staff, control experts, and other nonfacilities personnel. For example: Maintenance staff can view live system data for the zone where troubleshooting or preventive maintenance tasks are being performed. Controls experts can monitor and control critical applications from anywhere. Non-facilities professionals such as Environmental Health & Safety personnel can view system data needed for verifying proper operating conditions. Custom screens are designed to meet the needs of the user. In addition to displaying live system data, screens can be designed to include standard operating procedures and technical documentation such as operation and maintenance documentation. 5 Communications Details Setup Facility Prime and Facility Prime Editor are purchased and downloaded through the itunes store using an Apple ID and itunes account. Although end users do not need any specific knowledge of the APOGEE system or the specific site configuration, setting up the application requires this knowledge. Figure 8: Facility Prime Connection to Building Automation System Facility Prime connects to the APOGEE BAS using the site s Wi-Fi network. The application directly interacts with BACnet/IP and Siemens APOGEE P2 Ethernet field panels. It does not communicate with the workstation or web server; therefore, it does not use workstation or web server graphics. Graphics are made specifically for the Facility Prime ipad application and can be customized for use by non-technical users. After accessing the BAS Ethernet network via a connection from the site WiFi network, users can view the graphics and environmental conditions loaded on the ipad. Facility Prime Editor The Facility Prime TM Editor application provides all the capabilities of the Facility Prime application as well as the ability to create/modify graphics to exact user needs. Proper log-on and password authentication with a Siemens APOGEE IP panel is required to configure Facility Prime Editor. A library of graphical elements containing gauges, graphs, device images, and position animation is included with Facility Prime Editor. In addition, users may import documents, photos, and images to be used in their graphics. Building automation controller data and equipment settings are linked to graphics by entering point address information. Graphics can be copied and exported for use on other ipads for similar spaces. Facility Prime Facility Prime Editor Large-Site Considerations For sites maintaining a multitude of ipads with many different users, Facility Prime Management offers both Content Management and Access Management capabilities. The Facility Prime Content Management solution allows Facility Prime content (graphics and settings) on multiple ipads within the customer s network infrastructure to be managed from a central server. This central management eliminates the need to physically connect to individual ipads to update content. The Facility Prime Access Management solution enables site staff to manage user access to Facility Prime graphics. Access Management users can create access groups to provide user access to only certain graphics and points on a BACnet network. Access groups are separate from BAS users and can be maintained by management responsible for staff in their respective areas. Access to graphics is provided with a higher level of security through a two-factor authentication process. Users must enter a Personal Identification Number and scan an encrypted QR code via the ipad application.
