2 CHANGING CONSUMER EXPECTATIONS Consumers expectations are changing, an increasing number of consumers are wanting more visibility of their energy usage; they re no longer happy blindly paying their monthly bill. ONZO s appliance detection capability allows energy providers to meet the consumer s appetite for more information about energy usage by providing meaningful, customer-specific insights which are driven by highly granular appliance level data. Energy providers have the opportunity to utilise this data to build new customer propositions, and improve their operational performance, allowing them to differentiate themselves and develop new revenue streams in the face of increasing competition and regulatory pressure.

3 MANAGE WHAT YOU MEASURE ONZO s appliance detection technology delivers appliance-level insight so that customers can measure and manage their energy consumption more effectively, and energy providers can better understand their customers. ONZO s system is simple and cost effective because it requires minimal hardware and is based on whole-house energy usage data. Whole-house data can be collected with either our simple sensor and gateway solution, or by embedding our software within a smart meter. From the wholehouse data we re able to identify numerous household appliances that may be running simultaneously.

4 RECOGNISING SIGNATURES Our intelligent software, using our patented algorithms, possesses the ability to recognise different appliances, regardless of manufacturer, model, and program. The underlying principle is one which identifies the different physical processes behind an appliance

6 PERSONALISED ENERGY USAGE SUMMARY, ITEMISED BILLS, BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE Appliance detection data can be presented in a channel that s convenient for the customer, and utilised by energy providers throughout the customer journey to improve the experience. An itemised bill, can be distributed via the mail, or web and provides an insightful breakdown of energy consumption by appliance. This information can also be used in the customer service environment to diagnose bill shock and provide meaningful affinity building advice to customers.

7 ENCOURAGING ENERGY EFFICIENCY Research shows that the biggest determinant of a household s energy consumption, is not the size of the property, or technology but the behaviour of the occupants. With appliance detection data ONZO is able to offer more specific meaningful advice based on actual usage, and using behavioural economic concepts to encourage change.

8 TARGETED PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS Appliance detection data lets energy providers analyse customer characteristics and identify target customers for new product and service offerings. In this way they can maximise the value of their marketing activity, and generate a new revenue stream from product referrals. Personalised product recommendations can be made to consumers in the most appropriate format web, mail, smart phone or linked to social media.

9 APPLIANCE DIAGNOSTIC & MONITORING ONZO is able to provide insight into both the efficiency and performance of appliances. By analysing and comparing energy usage data we re able to provide consumers with efficiency upgrade suggestions. A deeper layer of insight allows us to monitor appliance condition by detecting changes to the electrical signature of an appliance as its condition deteriorates. This capability allows us to identify and predict appliance failure, a valuable insight for consumers and energy providers that service and sell appliances.

Energy usage data from appliances and communicating thermostats can be combined to customise home heating to suit individual preferences, thermal characteristics, and behavioural patterns within a home. Combining appliance data and local thermostat data using ONZO s algorithms allows far more intelligent control of household heating and cooling profiles, whether through the use of ONZO s low cost hardware, or by embedding our licensed technology in partner s HVAC products. This saves consumers money and opens the opportunity for ongoing service management revenue.
