3 Short Overview on the BelVis Solution for Smart Metering BelVis AMC establishes a communication infrastructure and forms the interface to the different meters and data loggers which may be connected using different protocols. It assumes control of the bidirectional communication with the intelligent multi-source meters over Multi Utility Communication (MUC, MUS) and combines them to form a head-end system. In this way, the user is presented with a unified view of the different forms of on-location metering points. Specialised for rapid processing of millions of metering points from various AMI systems, BelVis MDM handles the core tasks of a meter data management system. As a powerful central data hub, it unifies and carries out plausibility checks of metering data and generates replacement values. The proven BelVis EDM system uses the data prepared by the MDM system and carries out classical business processes in the deregulated energy market. Time series management forms the heart of the MDM system. KISTERS uses the KiTSM time series management system, designed for high volume workloads, to achieve the significant technological advantage required to tackle new challenges. Consumption data can be communicated back to consumers using the Smart Metering Viewer BelVis SV. The rating engine (tariff projection), activatable in BelVis MDM, provides customers with their running consumption not only in kwh, but also in euros. 5 Reliable high-speed communication As the bridge between AMI and company-wide information processing, BelVis MDM is a powerful communications tool. It is capable of exchanging information with upstream basic data providing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and billing or workforce management systems. All important accounting systems (SAP and many more) may be integrated. Upstream systems employ BelVis MDM for a range of services: transmission of configuration data, events, price signals and tariff models basic data synchronisation provision of aggregated time series spontaneous readings switching on and off power limitation and increasing Data forwarding takes place in two different ways: The SOAP service requests access pre-aggregated data and include compressed information on consumption or cost. Queries made to the MDM to supply base time series of read meter values are made available over a high-speed interface, due to the enormous amounts of data. Forwarding of metering data to market partners (e.g. metering service providers to sales) takes place using currently valid market communication formats. Calculations The BelVis MDM calculation server updates all power, gas and water load profiles and carries out plausibility checks. The system is optimised for high daily read rates (e.g. quarter hourly). The calculation of all derived time series is carried out automatically in the background. All required calculations may be carried out using predefined calculation methods. Above that calculations are freely definable using formulae (e.g. for balancing and cost accounting using tariff models). BelVis MDM functions fundamentally as a parameterisable calculation machine, which provides its results to other applications such as EDM, forecasting, PFM and billing through communication and services. As a rating engine, BelVis MDM carries out tariff projection and preparation of billing statements. Aggregation and balancing BelVis MDM aggregates data and prepares all values necessary for balancing, such as daily sums and partial sums of tariff times for each individual meter. It is also capable of evaluating the tariff time sums with tariff costs and higher sums with reference to customers, contractors, balancing groups and networks. Flexible enough for every application BelVis MDM scales well and offers powerful configuration options, meaning it can adapt to companies of any size. All modes of operation are possible: as a solution for a standalone company, shared operation under the umbrella of cooperations, or Application Service Providing (ASP) mode at a service provider. The look & feel is geared to the standards that were established by Apple and the iphone. To get access to BelVis SV Mobile you can use the same account as for BelVis SV. The user can see his current data consumption and costs on his mobile device. BelVis SV Widgets In case you are already using a portal for communicationg with your customers, the BelVis SV Widgets are useful for you. Small user interfaces that are easy to use and that run autonomously, are integrated into the existing portal. Instead of organising a complex data transfer between different systems, the BelVis SV Widgets are simply integrated into the browser.
