8 Programme Principles This programme and the resulting operational model is based on clear principles: Support the business - not do the business Centralise geo-data to enable it to be re-used Geo-enable our customers by providing better toolsets and capability Enable the business to: maintain and produce their own data Understand the power of geo-enablement Collaborate with like minded agencies A decision was made to split the technology components of the project from the user experience.

30 Spatial Data Management The Spatial Data Inventory Management Tool (SDIMT) is a search tool that will discover and document geospatial data across council s networks. The SDIMT will allow us to: Search the network for geospatial data Locate geospatial data in a number of formats Create an index of spatial data stored across business units Identify duplicate datasets More efficiently rationalise data Monitor the creation of geospatial data across the network. 30

32 Historic Imagery The objective of the project : Centralise the currently dispersed historic imagery into a centralised location Develop a comprehensive inventory for use in the imagery request process Develop a process to add newly discovered historic imagery to the inventory. Historic imagery visually records change across time Aerial photographs can show features and relationships that are not visible from the ground and the production of miniature images of an area of land allows the viewer to see far more than can be seen by the naked eye or in most cases from any other vantage point.

48 Open Data Looks great! Congratulations on the launch of the Open Data Beta page. A significant step forward in our GIS Service Delivery Model with the launch of our Auckland Open Data GIS Portal website. Congratulations to all the Council staff and elected representative who have made this happen. Ease of use: It was easy to open and download a table of data - such as the Special Housing Area table.

49 GeoGateway Launched 2014 GeoGateway is a web portal used to find and access geospatial information and associated services via the Internet. The GeoGateway will: Provide an access point for geospatial news and information Allow you to view geospatial Datasets Documents web applications web services online 49 Increase the use of geospatial information by making it easy to find, access and share.

51 GeoGateway / Portal The new GeoGateway provides a clean clear interface that exposes geospatial information that was previously difficult to locate. The map layers are easy to find and you can quickly build up a picture to assist with analysis.
