6 Registration & Issuance Process Following validation of a proposed CDM project activity by a DOE, a request for registration can be made Project will be registered after 8 weeks (4 weeks for small-scale) unless a review is requested A review can be triggered by 3 Board members or 1 Party involved Following verification of a monitoring report by a DOE, a request for issuance can be made Issuance is considered automatic after 15 days A review can be triggered by 3 Board members or 1 Party involved

7 CDM EB-Registration & Issuance Team The RIT is established to assist Board members in their task to consider requests for registration of project activities and requests for issuance of CERs submitted to the Board by DOEs First year RIT operation from March : 20 active Members representing all geographic regions 564 Request for registration appraisals assigned 362 with meth expert input 222 Request for issuance appraisals assigned 58 with meth expert input ~17% Inputs to review cases assigned tus: 29 March 2007

10 Feedback for CDM projects Ensuring barriers to demonstrate additionality are relevant & substantiated Ensuring that methodology used is applicable and correctly applied If in doubt, seek clarification, a revision or a deviation Ensuring there is a valid letter of approval/authorisation (LOA) Ensuring that all documentation is submitted correctly and consistent with LOA Ensuring small scale projects meet the small scale criteria - e.g. are not de-bundled components of other project activities Ensuring monitoring plan is in accordance with methodology Ensuring that deviations are approved by the Board
