New social collaboration communication tools are a springboard to this second IT revolution : Atos ambition: to be a Zero TM company by the end of 2013

7 The World as we see it in 2014 More than 2 billion smartphone and tablets used for enterprise and private life More than 1 Billion users of Social Network in private and increasing participation in Enterprise Social Networks reducing the need for mail Internet of things gradually invading our context thanks to IP V6 availability Significant challenges ahead Context aware computing as the standard way to use ICT linking together screen (smartphone, tablet, head units), object (sensors activators) and the cloud able to manage in real time all the context (localization, schedule, social networks,..)

10 The Challenges ahead: 1/ Virtualization & Embedded software monitored in cloud New applications for context aware computing are using cloud for: Installation on screen and objects Operation in context Maintenance and update Example : connected cars, smart meters Context aware computing requires real time operations which have to be processed in the cloud. Example : E-Call for connected car to alert in case of car crash All embedded softwares will be virtualized in the Cloud Internet of things make every user a producer of data generating the Big Data challenge Improving user experience requires Real Time analytics to support user decision Example : Real Time Traffic Forecasting
11 The Challenges ahead: 2/ Security for Embedded Software New applications for context aware computing are challenging IT security: Identity Management Access Management Solutions always include a mix of: Encryption Biometrics PKI Example : mobile payment Embedded Software can command activator and act on physical process Example : unlocking car doors and starting the engine with a smartphone as a consequence of connected vehicle
12 The Challenges ahead: 3/ Electromobility and embedded software Climate Change, environmental protection and limited resources are the main drivers for Electromobility Electromobility: mainstream adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles for passenger transportation Success of Electromobility is conditioned by : User acceptance Availability of supporting infrastructures and services Context aware computing is crucial to find available electrical recharge. Electrical Vehicle need to be connected cars Example : Autolib fully connected as Renault EV
13 The Challenges ahead: 4/ Energy for long lived objects IT has been driven by Moore Law (double power every 18 months) to get maximum capacity irrespective of energy consumption Internet of objects, smartphone tablets are requiring low energy consumption to last according to their targets : months for sensors,days for smartphone Embedded software design is now questioned to become more frugal in operation Communication bandwidth and energy consumption are becoming crucial and require a new approach to mix wifi and mobile communication. Objects themselves are considered as vehicle for communication
14 The Challenges ahead: 5/ Economy of Smart Mobility Users and Objects are both consumer and producer of data Data generated by applications are of great value for business partners which can use them to deliver better service. Insurance Company are very interested to have access to real time data generated by the vehicle they are covering; they are ready to discount their fees to get these data Platform Vendors will support both: User experience generating data Business partners using these data (with the consent of users) to deliver services while contributing to infrastructure and platform cost Payment System platform offer credit card payment to users almost for free while cost of infrastructure and platform are paid by merchants which have therefore access to valuable marketing data
15 II. Enterprise Social Networks will be a springboard to this second IT revolution is a personal productivity tool and isn t effective outside small scale and simple collaboration
