Some definitions Gartner defines cloud computing as a style of computing in which scalable and elastic IT-enabled capabilities are delivered as a service using Internet technologies. Microsoft considers cloud computing distributed computing with 3 aspects: Platform as a Service (writing software), Infrastructure as a Service (running software), or Software as a Service (using software). Works like a computer operating system, managing multiple applications across a shared, Internet-based software and hardware infrastructure
