TEXPACK Integrated Travel Demand Modeling Application Texas Planning Conference June 2016
Presentation Overview What is it and what is different? Why do this? What does it look like? Where are we now? Where are we going with this? 2
What is TexPACK? Texas Package Suite of Travel Demand Modeling Software Trip generation and distribution techniques Integrated into TransCAD travel demand modeling platform Takes advantage of inherent GIS capabilities 3
What is TexPACK? No longer need to invoke sequential models one step-at-a-time Although an end-user certainly still has that option Automates a number of steps Application/model familiarity Hopefully minimizes potential for errors Reporting and mapping mechanisms 4
What is TexPACK? Continues with initiative to standardize: Folder structures File naming conventions Attribute/data naming conventions Model architecture Common platform for interpreting results statewide 5
Why Implement TexPACK? 1. Increase use of demand model applications by improving application interface, 2. Create a standard platform to create, apply and deploy models throughout the state, 3. Create a common system for measuring and communicating results, and 4. Create a system that permits flexibility for enhancement 6
