Seminar Description: is an industry technical standard for the control of packaging machines. Siemens automation software and hardware products are the perfect fit for and make implementation very easy. Join us for this educational seminar where you will learn about the OMAC organization, the benefits of using the standard, and how take advantage of this standard in the Siemens Digital Enterprise.

Agenda: Overview on the OMAC organization OMAC s Mission & Structure Learn the benefits of for OEMs, End Users & System Integrators What is OPC/UA? How is part of the IIoT strategy

What is OMAC? OMAC is formed as The Open Modular Architecture Controls User s Group to provide an organization for companies to work together OMAC changes its name to the Organization for Machine Automation and Control to better reflect the broader mission and scope of its on-going activities. OMAC brings together leading manufacturers representing End-User Manufacturers, OEM Machine Builders, System Integrators, Technology Providers, and Non-Profit / Government Agency organizations to address issues that confront global manufacturing today. PMMI (Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies) is a partner organization. OMAC aims to collectively derive common solutions for both technical and non-technical issues in the development, implementation, and commercialization of open, modular architecture control technologies.

Who is OMAC? OUR MISSION OMAC is dedicated to advancing manufacturing capabilities and efficiencies through identifying common problems, standardization, and improvements to processes that positively impact the way companies do business. OMAC is the global organization for automation and manufacturing professionals, including end-users, machine builders, and technology providers. Membership is open to organizations and individuals from industry. OUR VISION OMAC will be the premier global organization providing collaborative leadership and expertise for machine automation in manufacturing which enable members to achieve higher performance, quality, and reliability.

Who is OMAC? Our Core Values Leadership in fostering collaboration of end-users, machine builders, and technology providers Resource for manufacturing industry Global engagement Standards-based architecture Higher performance, quality, and reliability Social responsibility Our Objectives Expand the body of knowledge for effective application of machine automation and control in manufacturing. Promote awareness of the value of OMAC and the value of automation and innovation in manufacturing. Provide compelling value which encourages membership and participation. Ensure the long-term viability of OMAC as an effective advocate for advancing manufacturing capabilities. Promote awareness of the OMAC standard ISA-TR commonly known as and the /OPC UA companion specification

Standard has been refined through implementation v2.2 released, 10 state model v3.0 released, 17 state model Current template created using Standard OMAC template available for download PackSpec Template released, v1.0 ISA TR , Edition 2, October 11, 2015 Machine and Unit States: An Implementation Example of ANSI/ISA ISA-TR , Edition 2, released First versions of current template are created Various revisions and executions across multiple projects ISA- TR Released Various revisions and executions across multiple projects OPC/UA Companion Specification moved to status of Release Candidate ISA International Society of Automation OMAC Organization for Machine Automation Control TR Technical Report

OMAC Work Groups TAB - The primary purpose of The OMAC Technical Advisory Board is to advise the OMAC Board of Directors (on the organization s technical direction, strategy, objectives and goals. Brian McKittrick Siemens OMW - Our primary objective is to create an environment that maximizes the machine automation choices of end-users and OEMs, and increases their flexibility through greater openness and interoperability. To ensure that this goal becomes a win-win situation, we work with CNC controller vendors, CAD/CAM suppliers, and CNC OEMs to encourage their support of OMW Connect and Manufacture standards and best practices. Rich Morihara Boeing OPW - The objective of the OMAC Packaging Workgroup (OPW) is to maximize the business value of packaging machinery by improving automation guidelines and standards. This will lead to improved flexibility, improved capability, and reduced system integration costs. Uwe Keiter Lenze Lee Smith- Mettler Toledo
