Did You Know??? End of Day Cash Management Options Cash Drawer Report by Sales Code or Station Number. Drawer Count is done at open and close and is a blind count

Cash Drawer Report

Drawer Count

Cash Management Recap Cash Drawer Report shows what should be in the drawer based on sales activities during the day. Can be run by station or sales code Drawer Count is a blind count, reports are only available to managers. Run at open and close. Choose the one that works for your store

Sales Code Best Practices Sales Code lockouts are the #1 support call placed to CAP/Sellwise by councils. We recommend that you have at least one backup Manager sales code, or have two staff members with Manager permissions, including full Sales Code and Security permissions. Maintain a spare Manager code that isn t used regularly so you can login using that one if you do get locked out as a manager. Remember! The system will automatically unlock your sales code 30 minutes after it is locked due to unsuccessful login attempts. Also, delete employees upon departure or termination.

Credit Card and On Account Sale Best Practices Fixing incorrect credit card and On Account transactions are other extremely common calls from Councils to the CAP/Sellwise Support team Incorrect Credit Card transactions MUST be returned, not Voided. Simply select the incorrect transaction from Operations, or re-ring it and choose Return from the Exceptions menu. If a balance or payment is applied incorrectly to a unit account, you need to reverse the incorrect payment, and then apply it to the correct account. There is no way to simply transfer the balance from one account to another in a single step. First, return the incorrect transaction using the Return function in Exceptions. Second, apply the payment or charge to the correct account using the appropriate tender type.

What is EMV?? EMV is a set of international standards that defines interoperability of secure transactions across the international payments landscape. EMV transactions introduce dynamic data specific to the card and the transaction. Goal of devaluing transaction data in flight and reducing the risk of counterfeit fraud. The computer chip on the card uses cryptography to provide strong security. In the context of EMV, encryption is only used to protect the PIN. MERCURY

How EMV Works Step 1: An EMV card is inserted into a terminal Step 2: The chip embedded in the card contains a unique issuer key; this is accessed by the reader in the terminal Step 3: Using the key from the card and data from the transaction, the chip creates and sends a unique code, or cryptogram to the processor s host with the approval transaction, allowing the issuer to validate the card is legitimate and not counterfeit Step 4: The card is removed when the transaction is completed. Do not remove the card before the transaction is over! MERCURY

EMV Fiction Vs. Fact Fiction EMV is a merchant mandate If you don t implement EMV you will be open to a breach Processing will be shut off if you don t switch to EMV by October 2015 Magnetic stripes will go away You will be charged extra if you don t use a chip Your old hardware will stop working Solution provider: We have a product solution today for EMV Solution provider: Our solution is EMV-ready EMV cards are being issued all over the place Fact There is no mandate EMV is part of the security and fraud puzzle and does not solve the problem alone Your processing will not be shut off Totally False. Cards will have both chip and magnetic stripes for the foreseeable future. Interchange rates for EMV and card swipes are not changing as part of liability shift Existing hardware will continue to work for magnetic stripes Most solutions in the market are only partially ready EMV-ready is misleading term, and doesn t mean it s EMV-capable. Chip-card adoption/usage still has a long way to go. More so in 2015, but they ll still have a magstripe MERCURY

EMV Timetable Ongoing - Purchase VX805 EMV compatible swipe hardware at BSAorders@capretail.com. DO NOT PURCHASE ONLINE FROM ANOTHER SOURCE BECAUSE IT WILL NOT WORK. Late summer 2015 VX805 software will be manually updated to accept EMV cards by dipping or swiping VX805 accepts contactless payments, but this functionality must be turned on by MercuryPay after the device is installed Oct 1, 2015 Liability shift for purchases made using fraudulent cards from bank and credit card companies to merchant IF the merchant does not have an EMV capable POS system. VX805 Support Contact CAP Support via the BSA Support Toll Free number or BSAsupport@capretail.com Is there a date when keying cc numbers will not be allowed? Not at the moment. EMV does not attempt to address manually keyed cards in card present or online transactions.
