What is the BT Infinity Lab? The Infinity Lab programme builds on BT s rich history of open innovation and engagement with the start-up community. The programme is sponsored by BT s Consumer, Business & Public Sector, Wholesale & Ventures and Technology divisions and provides a front door to our work with entrepreneurs and the startup ecosystem across the UK, Europe and beyond. The Infinity Lab runs engagement events and challenges around core business themes. From these events, one or more winners will then have the opportunity to work with BT to further develop both their product and market strategy. 3

The Competition BT is looking for start-ups with innovative solutions to help our customers use the power of IoT applications on their journey to digitising their businesses and operations. We aim to showcase innovation in connected assets, connected buildings, connected vehicles, connected field force, supply chain and enabling platforms and supporting technologies. The winning company could support BT with its own transformation including: 6,000 buildings, 120,000 vehicles and 30,000 assets passing through its supply chain each day. 4

The Competition The call for entries attracted 94 SMEs from the UK and overseas with several themes emerging around the potential application of future IoT based technologies. These included Buildings; Asset Tracking; Warehouse; Fleet; Data and Platforms and Sensor/Networks ENTRIES INTERVIEWS FINALISTS WINNERS 5

Our 8 finalists 7

Disruptive Technologies The idea An end-to-end sensor solution using micro-sensors which are the size of a keyboard button and have the thickness of a coin. With 15 years of battery life and long range currently supporting touch, proximity & temperature and plans for water, humidity, sound, light and vibration. The sensors are being trialled for the "First IoT in a box solution for buildings. 8

UWINLOC The idea Offers battery-less connected tag that locates all types of objects indoor in 3D and identifies to 30 cm accuracy using low cost energy harvesting tags. UWINLOC a French based start-up spun out of the Airbus incubator allows its clients to use a locating system requiring minimum maintenance. 9

Thingful The idea Thingful is a search engine for the Internet of Things. Its IoT middleware interoperates across multiple standards, domains, devices and formats to enable seamless discoverability and access to remote data sources without the need for central data aggregation. Thingful makes it possible to access real-time data directly from source, and for data owners to control where and how the data is used. 10

Invisible Systems The idea Invisible Systems offers a battery powered LoRa based wireless solution with cellular and ethernet gateways, achieving in excess of 10km line of sight coverage with information displayed on cloud dashboards tailored for different applications for energy savings, condition monitoring and compliance. 11

SenseGiz The idea SenseGiz COINs communicate with each other to form a low power mesh network, capturing motion, pressure, vibration, temperature & humidity with connectivity to the cloud via Wi- Fi. Applications for COIN include condition monitoring, asset tracking, perimeter security and geo-fencing with a dashboard for alerts, management and setting. 12

8power The idea 8power deliver intelligence from assets through the use of a very low power design, utilising various forms of energy harvesting. 8 Power s industrialised sensors can support a wide range of applications including asset tracking, logistics, rail freight, industrial motors/ pumps, and monitoring critical infrastructure such as bridges and tunnels. 13

EMSOL The idea The EMSOL service will correlate Real Driving Emissions Data (driver behaviour, idling & emission data) to a site/customer as well as incorporating site based sensor collected emission data. 14

OXEMS The idea The OXEMS asset management tags contain unique enhanced resonators (not RFID). They resonate at 2 factory set frequencies which function as a simple bar-code which the OXEMS app and detector interpret as a tag type e.g. a valve on a water pipe or a bend in a telecoms duct. The tags are passive (no battery) and there is no silicon in them and they can be read from 2m above ground. 15
