1 Software Announcement April 25, 2006 IBM V6.0.1 supports national language translations Overview This announcement satisfies the statement of direction included in Software Announcement , dated September 12, 2005, regarding national language translations. Close monitoring of key business performance metrics can drive continuous improvement and empower innovation and optimization. WebSphere Business Monitor gives you this capability through: A visual display of business process status, allowing you to monitor these processes in real time Alerts and notifications to key users of anomalous situations and critical events requiring action Metrics in the form of multiple views of business performance measured against targets, including a scorecard view for executives provides significant new enhancements to the IBM business process management portfolio, and is tightly integrated with both WebSphere Business Modeler and WebSphere Process Server. It also provides support for the Common Event Infrastructure (CEI) by leveraging the Common Base Event (CBE) format for receiving and emitting events, as implemented through the WebSphere Process Server. includes one copy of WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced, providing sophisticated, intuitive modeling and simulation capabilities to precisely model the critical aspects of your business. When the is used in conjunction with WebSphere Business Modeler, you can create a business measures model that specifically identifies activities to be monitored, including events, business metrics, and key performance indicators. Once the model is complete, WebSphere Business Monitor then recognizes the model and the measurements to be captured from incoming events. The IBM business process management portfolio allows you to model, deploy, monitor, and analyze critical processes, and to take action based on informed and timely decisions, resulting in real-time competitive advantage. 2 Description New in Version National language translations V6.0.1 provides national language translations for the following languages: Arabic Brazilian Portuguese Czech French German Greek Hebrew Hungarian Italian Japanese Korean Polish Russian Simplified Chinese Spanish Traditional Chinese Turkish monitors business processes in real time, provides a visual display of business process status, and provides alerts and notifications to key users to enable business process optimization. is a critical part of an integrated business innovation and optimization solution on the WebSphere V6 platform, delivering closed-loop business process management by integrating business process modeling, execution, and real-time monitoring. In addition, continuous business process improvement metrics, such as task working durations and process decision percentages, are calculated and can be exported to update their corresponding business process models in the WebSphere Business Modeler. These capabilities provide for processes running in WebSphere Process Server. includes one copy of WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced, which bridges the gap between Line of Business and IT. Many business process modeling efforts stop at developing flow diagrams or process maps. With WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced, this effort is extended to include simulation, analysis, and redesign. Event sources: receives events in the Common Base Event format. This standards-based format is included as part of the WebSphere Process Server components. WebSphere Business Monitor V6 receives events from WebSphere Process Server. receives and processes events from WebSphere Process Server. Common Event Infrastructure (CEI): WebSphere Business Monitor supports CEI, and thus leverages the Common Base Event format for consuming and emitting events. It also leverages the event catalog and event store capabilities to manage and keep record of the incoming event types. Currently the Common Event Infrastructure support is provided in WebSphere Process Server. requires WebSphere Process Server to be installed in order to leverage the CEI capabilities. components: WebSphere Business Monitor provides different data stores to manage the large amounts of information and analysis needed. These data stores are: State, an internal persistent data store for event collection and processing. It is not user accessible. Runtime, which contains all information required for running process instances or in-progress events. Performance warehouse, designed as a data mart, which contains all of the historical information of completed process instances and enables multidimensional analysis. Monitor repository, which contains the definitions of the deployed models, and is accessed by the monitor server and dashboards. Monitor server is used to perform the management of the key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics, as well as other relevant information from the business measures model which is defined as part of the business measures modeling capabilities of WebSphere Business Modeler. The monitor server is also responsible for event correlation as well as situation detection that then triggers the adaptive action manager component. Adaptive action manager is part of the monitor server that is responsible for receiving situation events and then taking the appropriate actions for the given situation. The adaptive action manager will also emit CBEs when actions are initiated. Types of action which can be taken include , dashboard alerts, corrective action processes in the WebSphere Process Server, and invocation of a Web service. Information manager is responsible for managing the multidimensional analysis capabilities as well as determining when and how information is managed in the various monitor data stores, in order to provide scalability and multidimensional analysis capabilities. Business Monitor has WebSphere Portal based dashboards that can be customized with a predefined set of configurable views that are implemented via portlets. A dashboard designer with WebSphere Portal skills can take these portlets and configure them or create custom dashboards. Some of these view types will leverage DB2 Alphablox. Eight different view types can be combined together to create dashboards: Scorecard view shows groupings of KPIs and primarily supports executive users. Key Performance Indicators view shows the values of individual KPIs, focusing on the position of the KPI value relative to its defined limits. Gauge view displays individual KPI values, either relative to KPI lower and upper limit values, or relative to the KPI target value, visually using the appearance of physical instruments as in an automobile. Active Instances view shows the details of processes, which contain a group of related metrics, KPIs, and situations on a particular process. The monitor view can monitor either individual instances or groups of process instances. This is in addition to providing the capabilities to perform drill-down and drill-up among child and parent instances. Report view provides performance reports relative to a time axis. Such reports typically contain tables and graphs analyzing historical data contained within the performance warehouse data store. The Report view has built-in analysis types that include Quartile, Trend, and Control Analysis

3 Dimensional view provides a multidimensional view of business performance data. Users can pivot on business dimensions to view the performance. Alert view displays the notifications for a specific user. Process view displays the process status. Such a display will show a process graph with visual cues on the status of the process. In addition to the eight supported views, there are two helper views: Organization view displays the organization, organization units, and employees available in the customer user registry that WebSphere Portal is configured to use, whether that is an LDAP user registry or a custom registry. The Organization view is used to help users filter the data generated by the Report view based on employees available in selected organization or organization unit, or based on a selected employee. Export Actual Values view is the export of an XML representation of the actual values to be used for the feedback loop with WebSphere Business Modeler. Launchpad installation helps you effectively deploy. WebSphere Business Monitor includes a limited license to certain components of the following programs, and the launchpad installation tool helps automate installation of those components: DB2 UDB Enterprise Server Edition DB2 Cube Views DB2 Alphablox WebSphere Portal WebSphere Process Server WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment also includes a limited license to certain components of WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced V6. Those components are not, however, installed through the launchpad.
