2 About Us S-TEC, LLC was established in 2005 by Stuart Smith to meet the automation needs of customers throughout the Southeastern Pennsylvania region. As principal designer, Smith draws upon a wealth of experience dealing with the unique demands of a wide range of customers and client cultures, having worked in the field of automation design for 30 years with regional firms in Wyndmoor, Lancaster, and Perkasie. How We Work To achieve effective solutions to clients needs, we believe in engaging our clients throughout our design process. For each design/build project we undertake, we form a team comprised of our clients, consultants and staff to: Establish the context through information gathering Analyze the information and developing potential solutions Evaluate the implications implicit in each design solution We then: Synthesize the best elements of different schemes into a unified design Define size, spatial configuration, and scale considerations utilizing computergenerated models 1

4 Mechanical Design Solutions We develop automation that ranges from simple fixtures to turnkey systems, executing all phases from concept through commissioning. Our expertise lies in evaluating processes and applicable components integrating: Automated parts feeders Handling systems Electro/Pneumatic and control systems Drives and motion control Automation components Sensors Machine vision We will utilize reliable vendors for application and specification assistance as required by the application. Safety - Risk Assessment Safe operation is a critical component of every machine we build. We also will review and address existing machinery for: Control stop categories Control reliable circuits Access doors with safety interlocks Hard mounted perimeter and point of operation guards We adhere to all applicable regulations and standards required to reassemble, commission and start up systems at our customer s facility in addition to meeting all customer in-house rules and regulations. 3

5 Purchasing We will engage a vendor network and acquire applicable materials, components, fasteners, fittings, finishes, treatments, etc. We work to establish relationships that garner trust through competitive pricing and reliable service. Training Training is key to the successful operation of any new equipment. We will inform management and plant personnel regarding the SAFE operations and maintenance of all S-TEC- designed equipment and will conduct this training with all responsible parties on either the plant floor or in classroom environments. Documentation Optional Documentation follows machine acceptance. S-TEC can provide: Assembly and bills of materials, Operation manuals, Validation assistance, and Working drawings, describing the project s components and systems. Service Our goal is to provide a timely response to our customer s needs whenever a system or process is down or malfunctioning. We will evaluate and diagnose through logical troubleshooting and our equipment experience. 4
