3 1 Scope This document defines requirements for converters of textile articles (all processing levels), finished leather articles and accessories for use in textile and leather industry. For the criteria regarding rebranders of chemical products see the criteria for production sites annex: Chemical Supplier. 2 Definitions 2.1 Converter A converter, for the purpose of this document, is any company selling textile articles (all processing levels), finished leather articles and accessories for use in textile and leather industry sourced from a sub-supplier. A converter does not have any installed chemical or physical finishing steps. Original products are sold without any change with exception of make-up/packaging. Products with trade name(s) specified by the converter are placed on the market by the converter. It is not obligatory, that the buyer has information on the original supplier(s) of the products. Legal compliance A converter system partner has to maintain compliance and stay up-to-date with any changes in the relevant legislation. Awareness and understanding of applicable legal requirements is a prerequisite for a system partner to meet all relevant international, national, regional and local requirements concerning environmental aspects, occupational health, corporate social responsibility and product safety. Legally binding requirements that are stronger or more detailed than the bluesign criteria will supersede these and vice versa. Product stewardship Every company has a full responsibility for the products marketed to their customers. A close cooperation between the supplier and the converter shall be established, to ensure the understanding of the safety, health, environmental and quality issues related to the delivered products. An appropriate packaging and shipping of finished products shall impair that products are damaged during storage and transport and shall prevent cross contamination. Industry specific requirements.1 Management system An appropriate management system shall be installed, maintained and continuously improved. It shall cover, if applicable, the aspects of Quality Environment Occupational Health and Safety Resource saving Consumer safety Social responsibility The samples of all relevant articles purchased and sold under the bluesign approved label shall be kept in stock for at least one year. A properly installed management system should ensure traceability of bluesign approved articles from purchase to sales department.

4 .2 Tracking of bluesign approved articles The flowchart (Figure.1) gives an overview on the tracking process for the bluesign approved articles. Storage and transport of materials Textile articles, finished leather articles and accessories shall be stored and transported in an appropriate manner to avoid any cross contamination. Resource saving aspects shall be kept in mind regarding packaging and transport. 6 Verification of compliance bluesign technologies verifies the compliance with the criteria at hand by means of an audit. Re-audits shall be carried out no later than every three years. In focus of an audit is tracking and linking of the converter bluesign approved articles to the original manufacturer bluesign approved articles. The main aim is to assure that purchased amounts of the original manufacturer bluesign approved articles reconcile with the sold volumes of the converter bluesign approved articles. A so-called converter table that links the original article numbers (including the supplier name) to the article numbers from the converter is the basis of cooperation between the converter and bluesign technologies.

5 7 Validity This document comes into effect from April 01, 201. It replaces the general bluesign criteria for converters, edition 1.1 from March For all companies that signed the audit agreement before April 01, 201 and for all system partners the implementation of the revised sections shall take place until April 01, 201 at the latest. This document is subject to changes.
