4 Silver and gold Less than 10% of the MPN ecosystem are competency partners, and those partners can attain a competency at two levels: Silver and gold. Silver partners demonstrate expertise, skills and strategic thinking around one or more competencies. Gold partners demonstrate the highest, most specialized capability and commitment within one or multiple business solution areas. Most of these partners have both silver and gold competencies.

5 What is a competency? A competency demonstrates to customers your proven expertise in delivering quality solutions in a specialized area of business. Identify the relevant competency Competencies reflect the workloads that make up the bulk of customer spend, typically $1B+ opportunities Each competency is designed around a core set of customer scenarios a partner must be able to address We introduce new competencies and retire old ones as needed to reflect changing market conditions Benefits and support Competency partners receive a portfolio of benefits that help you scale your business and reduce costs The benefits cover all areas of your business across marketing, sales, development, deployment and support Cloud First + Mobile First In support of Microsoft s overall strategy, we have included many cloud and mobile-centric benefits in including instances of Office 365, Microsoft Azure, CRM Online and Windows Intune. There are now three cloud competencies that can be attained through proven cloud sales and deployment performance.

8 What is the Microsoft AER Program? The Microsoft Authorized Education Reseller (AER) Program authorizes resellers to sell academic priced products into the Education channel. Designed for academic partners and customers Offers Improved Communication and resources Membership Training and community benefits Exclusivity Only AER s can sell academic product

9 What AER gives customers and resellers Better standard of customer service. All resellers have agreed to a standard set of terms and conditions of business. All are trained to a minimum standard in our Academic licensing. Customers know who to go to. Better service to our resellers. Ongoing training. Forums. Access to campaign materials. Up-to-date news.

10 New Gold and Silver AER program It was launched in September, 2014 It provides ways for our partners to gain the skills they need in order to be able to supply the customers needs in O365 deployment, Azure and CRM online. It recognizes those partners who have Gold or Silver competencies It aligns completely with MPN Gold and Silver Partner program Partners who are Gold or Silver will get a different logo, and will be listed at the top of any customer search along with their competencies

11 How does Gold and Silver AER fit in with AER and TopAER The AER Program. This is designed for ALL partners selling into or servicing education customers. It includes VARs, LSPs and other partner types who want to join the community. All Gold Silver and Top AERs are also AERs. The Top AER program This program is for resellers who sell the top 80% of revenue within a subsidiary, or are within the top 20 Education partners in that subsidiary. Many LSP s will be in this category, and it is these that are the focus of this playbook. Top AER s by area are listed on the AER Portal here Gold and Silver AER program This aligns completely to the MPN competencies.
