1 DRAFT BUSINESS AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP CURRICULUM Developed by Brighton Akuku for Sarah Obama Solar Learning Center INTRODUCTION This curriculum is designed to guide in the training of individuals and groups of persons that wish to venture into business operations as income generating activities. The main goal of the training is to offer the trainees with the basic knowledge and relevant skills necessary for initiating and managing a business enterprise in acompetitive business environment with informed customers. The curriculum comprises of three major sections,that is, 1. Accounting and Book- keeping 2. Marketing and Advertising. 3. Entrepreneurship and Communication The enterpreneurship and communication section aim at providing the basic entrepreneurial and communication skills to the trainees. The accounting and book- keeping section mainly aim at providing knowledge of keeping track of transactons in a business and measuring the perfomance and financial position of the business. The marketing and advertising section has the objective of providing the learner with skills and knowledge of creating value for customers and building strong customer relationships so as to capture value from customer returns. 1. ACCOUNTING AND BOOK KEEPING GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To provide the trainee with clear knowledge of systematic recording of transactions, determining and analyzing the business financial performance and position. Definition of terms; Asset, Liability,Capital,Expense s and Revenues. Accounting Equation. 2 RECORDING TRANSACTIONS a. Procedure for making purchases (SOURCE DOCUMENTS): a.
