5 Upgrading from IBM Cognos Disclosure Management server version to version You can upgrade from IBM Cognos Disclosure Management version to Cognos Disclosure Management version Before you begin Ensure that the following prerequisites are met before you begin the upgrade: 1. The server meets the server and database requirements. 2. The Cognos Disclosure Management server version is installed. Important: Once you have installed Cognos Disclosure Management version 10.24, no earlier instances should be installed on the same server. 3. A backup of the database is complete. 4. Verify that Microsoft SQL Server is running by opening Microsoft SQL Management Studio and connecting to SQL server. The Cognos Disclosure Management database should be on the SQL server. 5. Verify that you have access to the ConnectionStrings.config file and the Cognos Disclosure Management website path from the application server. Log in to the Cognos Disclosure Management server computer and, using Microsoft Windows Explorer, access the Cognos Disclosure Management website folder at the default location: C:\inetpub\wwwroot\CognosDM-Server\Config. If you can open the ConnectionStrings.config file, then your access has been verified. 6. Access the Cognos Disclosure Management application through the client to validate that the system is in a functional state. To do this, launch the Cognos Disclosure Management client, connect to your Cognos Disclosure Management server, enter your credentials, and click Login. If you are able to log in to the Cognos Disclosure Management server, the verification is complete. About this task You can use the IBM Cognos Disclosure Management server setup.exe file to update the Cognos Disclosure Management database to version Procedure 1. Double-click the Cognos Disclosure Management server setup.exe file to start the installation wizard. 2. Select Maintain or upgrade an existing instance and then click Next. The installer locates an existing version of Cognos Disclosure Management and opens an upgrade screen. Click Yes. 3. To upgrade the software only, click Next to continue to the next screen and complete the installation. If you want to add new features, select the check box I also want to modify the existing features and then click Next to continue to the Custom Setup window. a. To install Filing, select This feature will be installed on local had drive. b. To install XBRL, select This feature will be installed on local hard drive. c. To install EDGAR, select This feature will be installed on local hard drive. 1

6 Important: To install XBRL or EDGAR, you must have a valid license key. d. The Migration Tool is installed by default and should already be selected. If it is not, select This feature will be installed on local hard drive. 4. On the License Keys window, enter your license key for XBRL or EDGAR, or both, if you have selected these features to be installed. Click Next. 5. On the Internet Information Services Settings window, you have the option of changing the name of the application pool, the name of the website, and the installation location of the Cognos Disclosure Management server website. 6. On the Database Server window, specify the database server and connection credentials for the Cognos Disclosure Management database that requires an upgrade. Do not select Use existing empty database or databases. a. If you have a separate cache database, you must select Install the Cache database separately. b. If you want a separate XBRL database, select Install the Cache database separately. If this is not selected, the XBRL tables will be created in the existing Cognos Disclosure Management database. 7.
