2 Company Portrait Visions, ideas and solutions AIS Automation Dresden is a midsize company in Saxony and was founded in 1990 with eight employees. Today, AIS employs a staff of more than 160 employees worldwide, the majority being automation engineers and computer scientists. Automation of vacuum technology equipment based on real-time control systems was the first successful business segment of the company. New business segments were added during the period between 1990 and These included mainly traffic/rail technology with automation solutions for marshalling yards, as well as production automation in the form of line controllers for assembly lines and other production equipment. The development of the semiconductor industry in Dresden opened up additional business segments in the areas of facility automation and factory automation. The result was solutions for factorywide monitoring systems and e-diagnostics. New innovative markets, such as Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for the solar industry, have been the basis for the continued successful development of the company. In 2000, following 10 years of successful corporate growth, the company inaugurated their own new headquarters in Dresden-Reick. In 2007, the headquarters expanded successfully and a second building was added. Since the beginning of 2008, AIS is a subsidiary of the Roth & Rau Group, which gives us unlimited flexibility for worldwide projects. As of April 2009 we also operate a representative office in Taipei which ensures direct and expedient support for our customers in Taiwan. Many years of experience in the field of complex control systems and production-oriented IT solutions are the basis for versatile and demanding software solutions for the semiconductor, photovoltaic, automotive and pharmaceutical industries, as well as traffic/railway technology. From conception of the system, over software development up to system integration and the supply of control hardware, AIS provides optimal and comprehensive service and support for their customers.
